Generation Next | Repairing a Paver Walkway
Roger teaches his apprentice how to identify and repair a walkway that's been damaged by chipmunks. All the materials Roger used, including the rubber hammer, stone dust, and concrete, can all be found at home centers and landscape supply stores.
How to Patch a Chipped Wood Floor. Tom patches a chipped wood floor using a Dutchman and hand tools. Everything Tom used for this project, including the hand saw, block plane, utility knife, and stain, can be found at home centers.
Tom used flooring saved by the homeowner, but flooring can also be found at home centers, lumber yards, and flooring retailers. For a patch, use the same type of wood and look for a piece that has a similar grain to the floor being patched.
Tom secured the Dutchman to the floor using wood glue and polyurethane glue, both manufactured by Gorilla Glue.

When Tommy started with the block plane (and looked like a low bedding angle to boot) it made the video for me. Along with a fine tooth pull saw they're the best tools going. Plus the house owner lady made exactly the correct responses ... at all the right moments ... obviously knows how to work a blokes ego ... and no mistake 😂.

@@Kevin-mp5of Just saw this. Acting, yes quite right, and it should be recognised that Tommy has a stunt builder double to do the heavy lifting or finish a saw cut. He's far too busy doing promo photo shoots for ToH, or modeling his own range of tool belts ... suitably stuffed with Festool kit. Everyone knows that. And, I blame you entirely for this btw, he now has to have a voice coach!!! You and Glady (I think it was) and some "others" have given him a completely imaginary dialogue, in the venacular, that the producers have recognised the commercial value of said pronounciation and they have actually patented "move it'ova tree qwata nice'n'easy" as part of the ToH audio logo/sound bite library. In fact I believe there's going to be a spin off sitcom ... starring Tim Allen ( seeing as he had experience being Bob Vila.) For the rest of the demographic audience, so to speak, I have heard Cher will take the part of Kevin. I suspect her success as "granny" in MM2 makes it a no brainer the new sitcom will be a musical. Who knew?!

I’m 18 an I think a big thing with getting kids into the trades is how much work it takes just to get a license now compared to going to college. Now I’m in the carpentry aspect but I would love to learn it all. But that would take a lot of time and if I wanted to learn about HVAC in three years I would restart in pay and such. 😕I wanna learn everything

I know this isn't a big deal but when you take a picture like they did for the walkway try to take it as straight down as possible. You can judge size and distance better. Another solution to the chipmunks if you don't mind them on your property is to replace there tunnel with a pice of ovc.

@ Allow me to expand ... merely rubbing wax sticks over the "damage" could have been done by the lady homeowner herself. But, having Tommy do the job himself made for a nice segment on the program. He was able to display his skills, and probably quite as importantly for the sponsor, show this week's "Festool" in action as well as showing an ancient method of patching. What would you rather see, Tommy waving a wax stick around or watch him working with tools? Each to his or her own of course so no right answer.

Exactly! Doubtless their demographic research folks have got a suitable mix to reflect the general community at large. We have a similar thing over here as a lot of the brighter kids twig that going to uni isn't all that. Whereas becoming an apprentice may be more useful "today". And of course anyone can do what we call an "Open University" later. Some schemes combine the two.

@Mie lee Yousin Hmm, I shall ignore any subtext and mention over in UK we have ladies who keep pace with (and exceed on many occasions) blokes in all engineering spheres. If ladies are kept back then probably need to look no further than the culture to which they belong. This is not a dig at any groups, it's what happens. Opportunities exist and choices are made. We have, for example, all lady theatrical companies who prefer it that way as you might say it's their "culture". Nobody thinks twice about it and they are measured solely by their productions ... same as any other companies. We have independent, and company, lady engineers in the electrical and gas trades. We have ladies involved in all the other aspects of building trades ... I would suggest however that they are not much in evidence in the trades which require heavy lifting ... after all ladies are not daft and don't, by nature or biology, get involved in "testosterone wars". In the sphere in which I have a particular interest we see independent lady boat builders. So, apropos genderism in UK building or engineering trades, we don't see it very often or at all. In fact such is their "independence" ladies can marry other ladies ... very, very, very, very few people object to this and most of us couldn't care less. So, if you are attempting to imply anything sinister in the choice of candidates on the ToH apprenticeship scheme then don't waste your, or our, time.
