Abhijit is right! A LOT of R&D is the requirement of the day for India! Countries % of GDP Expenditure on R&D. Stats as of Yr 2022: China - 3.1 % ( 556 Billion $) South Korea - 5% ( 105 Billion $) Taiwan - 3.8% ( 46.1 Billion $) India - 0.66% ( 6.51 Billion $)

Here we are not talking of new inventions, we are talking of setting up of manufacturing facility to replicate same product, product management principles remain same every where. if capital is there and technology transfer happens. product remains mostly to ensure the quality parameters are met to get certifiied. please keep in mind this is not a new product to chinese too initial technology is provided by west. once you know how to build chips, then newer people once have experience with product always innovate and improve.

West dont want to setup critical technology setup in india as they are already seeing might of indian brain in there own industry. Many highly skilled jobs are already taken by indians, they just dont want to have another china and compete with us. Yes we are far away from developing new inovations just because of what you stated budget and capital to do R&D

There seems to be a mistake. 0.66% of India's GDP (which in 2022 was USD 3.39 trillion) would be USD 22.7 billion, not USD 6.51 billion. The USD 6.51 billion figure you quoted might be India's Union government's allocated budget or expenditure on r&d, excluding spending by private Indian entities on r&d.

MY personal issue with private spending on rnd by foreign companies is that the intellectual property belongs to the foreign companies despite our engineers doing it . I understand that's how FDI works and that's fine .. but for the same reason I wish our government increases funding to colleges , I've people leave IITS for MITs cause no research prospects and also as needed we could make the patents free for indian companies

You are extrapolating the western model of state/institutional investment on people and drawing the conclusion that Indian work force will not be up to mark. In India, the state/institutions only extract and redistribute. All effective human investment/development is in private hands. The new age Industries where India's workforce is rated high, comes from investment on raw talent by the hiring company. This is very different from the western model, where the investment by the hiring company is only on the soft skills and not the technical skills. They expect them to have picked them up from their educational institutions. You can take the example of labor involved in doing some world-class infrastructure work in India The main challenge for India to excel in manufacturing comes from the fact that the strata from which the labor would be drawn is prone to tribalism, leading to violence and wayward behavior. It is going to be a social challenge rather than a technical challenge that we will have to overcome.

I do NOT agree with AIM's answer to someone complaining against his parents. Through Justice Karnan came to know it is ILLEGAL and violation of one's human rights to be taken / dragged to a shrink. The best solution is for both the complaining son / daughter and their parents to attend Bhgavatha Sapthaham. And all Sathsangs non stop. Apropos questions on porn the ONLY most effective remedy is to listen to Discourses on Viveka Chudamani , Kaivalya Navaneetham AND Srimad Bhagavatham. Sravanam , Mananam Nidhithyasanam. You are very much not aware of potential of indian workers, There is always Knowledge transfer in case a new setup is done, many indians are already working in such factories infact the project director of Quantum technology of IBM is an indian lady. most of the work done today is by machines, i bet india can learn what ever is needed within 6 months as semi conductor industry is concerned. I have build many center of excellence and my experience is we always outperform others within span of 1 year
