I had to learn this song for a class competition in school by my music teacher who was from Taiwan. For years I have sung this at every Karaoke with my friends (including a few Chinese) but I have never understood what the lyrics mean. I even sang the song once in the middle of the desert when I met a pair from Taiwan there. This is by far my favourite song. Thanks for explaining the meaning of the words to me! My favorite chinese song. I was a Elementary student when I got to taiwanese drama from then on I love to listen chinese song and one of the song I search on KZbin was the moon repress my heart and I begun to love the song and memorize the lyrics without knowing the meaning😅until I found out when Im already hight school my father told me that my ancestors are taiwanese my grandfather who I never met because he died when I wasn't born yet was a Taiwanese soldier who went to Philippines and marry a filipina and that was my grandmother. Then I realize maybe thats the reason why I love to listen to taiwanese song even though I don't understand the lyrics,it's because of the blood that flows on my body was from my taiwanese ancestors.Now im 32 and starting my self study in mandarin chinese and hoping to work in taiwan next year. This song is part of my childhood until now that im an adult. I really love this song

I know there's a Chinese version of "Old Folks at Home." I was looking for an English phonetics version of the song and found your video.
