Hi, Foods don't affect how the emergency pills or their effectiveness. However, if you vomit within 2 hours after taking the pill, you need to take the dose again.

One more thing I would like to add..if you take emergency contraceptive pill while your ovulation has just occurred and you have had an unprotected intercourse then you can get pregnant..And chances are that it can be an ectopic pregnancy..There are doctors who wouldn't check this second possibility so please do proper tests to check that out or you can get into a serious life threatening situation..Telling from personal experience...And also try to avoid progesterone only birth control pills..

Hi, the pill works after ovulation. Why should you still get it? You should get it because no one can accurately say when they are ovulating (except with blood tests, scans etc). The menstrual cycle apps or calendar give you estimates, only - even with a regular cycle. So you should get the pill if you’re concerned about an unplanned pregnancy because it can provide good protection if you’ve not ovulated, but realise it may not work - if you’ve already ovulated. The only method (currently) which will work after ovulation is the copper coil that you can use within 5 days of sex, or ovulation.

Pregnancy risk is lower during or just after the period. You also took the pill within 6 hours which is recommended. The copper coil could work if you are within 5 days after having sex.

The morning-after pill is most effective when taken before ovulation. The chances of being effective after ovulation are low. However, in such an instance, the MAP should still be used (sometimes the ovulation may not have happened yet); or get a Copper IUD/coil fitted within 5 days of sex.

Hi Angel, without knowing your menstrual pattern, we can’t really be too specific. Going by the date, you may have been in the fertile window when you had sex. Taking the pill as soon as possible is excellent - as long as you had not already ovulated. You can’t really on those signs like painful boobs or cramping to assume pregnancy. It’s also a little too early for you to start getting symptoms as today is only the 17th November. You need to wait 2-3 weeks after Sex and do a test - there’s really no other way you can be sure till around that time. Hi Natasha, you took the pill within the recommended time, and you had sex outside the fertile window (assuming you have a regular cycle). So your risk of pregnancy is likely quite small. As you know from the video, there is no sign to suggest pregnancy after taking the birth control pill till you take the test, so please keep an eye out for your periods and do a test if your period is delayed over 7 days. If you had unprotected sex and he ejaculated on ovulation day, how long does it take for sperm to get to the egg? And then you take the plan b 12 hours later? Does it stop fertilization or is it too late?

Hi Khadijah, thanks for a great question! Please don't think its too late to use the pill any time within the 72 hour recommended window because you feel you've ovulated or have U/S on ovulation day. The hormone is able to work in 3 ways, but delaying ovulation is the major effect. It can also prevent fertilisation & implantation (which both happen after ovulation) but to lesser degrees. How well it works in these areas - we don't know, and the pill doesnt have 100% effectiveness.

You can take the pill any day after you had unprotected sex. BUT. It is most effective in the days of your fertile window ie 5 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation.

hi there, my partner and I are planning on him not having to pull out just for us to try it this weekend, however I am not on the pill so, eg, can I take the plan b before hand like on a Friday and then be worry free the rest of the weekend OR is that not safe and I should take the plan b pill every day for that weekend

Hello, thanks for your question. Taking plan b before sex isnt safe. Pull out isnt a very great option either. Pls check the channel for my videos around it. Everytime you have unprotected sex increases the chance of pregnancy. Also, the pill you use today doesn't protect you against sex you will have tomorrow.
