Loved the face mapping, recently did this myself using smash factor on my driver head. Brutally honest I think it would probably filter a lot of driver options out! On another note I use 5,6 HMB and then 7-pw MP20, the 6 iron was weakened to blend better by a degree. Visually in the bag the look good, top line stuff never bothered me, HMB is confidence inspiring and yes feels more energetic off the face. MP20s are very nice but I like the feedback letting me know bad shots, but blades of today are no way the same as blades from the early 90s ... people should try them they really are rather forgiving and distance control is better for scoring irons. I just find the 919 and 921 a little busy in appearance but I wouldn’t say no if I lost my clubs ( I would be very upset if this happened because the ones I have feel like my forever clubs )

Hi Jay, I've now used my new HMB 5 6 and 7 irons a couple of times after picking them up from you on Sunday and I absolutely love them. They do look a bit bigger than my 8 9 and PW blades but I enjoy hitting them just as much.

Great review. Frankly the best review on the air between these two clubs! Getting fitted tomorrow for the optimum combo of Mizuno irons in either of the two families, MP-20 and JPX. Interesting information on the 8, 9 irons since I will go with either MMC or JPX Forged in the "scoring" clubs and HMB or JPXHMP for the 6, 7 iron. Everything higher is JPX HiFli until 5W and Driver. For a 70 year old that still strikes irons well, I can't give up the Mizuno feel for a distance iron after playing 714 AP2s for several years! (I am not impressed with T100s / 200 look and feel)

@@deanbowditch7329 Dean, the MP20 HMB range is quite chunky and looks like an over fed MP20 (MP20, beautiful iron, had to try it and I was being sucked in when the guy said I was hitting it well, had to drag myself away). I tried the Forged against the Taylormade P790, impressive club with similar carry distance but being a Miz Man it was always going to be the Forged. I will soon be 68, lowest handicap was 2, now 7, I was carrying the 7 iron 154 yards average at 6800 revs with a decent angle of 49 degrees and the guy reckoned that 160 was easily within range if I could get the spin down. Had to face up to the ageing factor and leave the blades behind but I am very impressed with the Forged and now easily hitting 1-1½ clubs less. I hope you find the right clubs and enjoy your golf going forward.

@@jiml9062 I thought the same with the HMB . You seem very knowledgeable. I'm 55 but coming back from tearing my quad tendon in a fall in April. Only played 4 rounds in November and that went horribly . I couldn't turn. I'm a 8 handicap but probably more like a 10 or worse after long layoff until April 2021. I hope to have clubs by than. Have you hit the Mp20 mmc ? Those are in the mix for me as well....
@jiml90623 жыл бұрын
@@deanbowditch7329 ''Those are in the mix for me'', the magic words Dean, I went for a fitting for the Forged after a very long research but when I saw all the shiny blades I was tempted and distracted so after hitting the MP20 Tour I woke up to the fact that I am unable to hit blades to the club potential and that I now needed a bit help from a cavity back club and the Forged delivered more than I expected so I did not hit the MMC. My driver clubhead speed has gone from 105 (a long time ago) to 92, time and age creep up quickly and I did not expect to see again, the carry distance of the Forged, with the great descent angle, so try them all, hopefully with a good fitter and you will find the right clubs for you, good luck with the injury.

Regarding "workability", might this be less of a feature these days now that even high quality modern balls are less soft than say. a balata ball from many years ago? I believe Tiger has mentioned this change, and if anyone knows something about "workability", it's him. On a humorous note, I remember Dan Jenkins, a golf writer with a wry sense of humor, defining "workability" as making the ball last for 18 holes. I think we can all get on that wagon. Great little evaluation today; greetings from the the States.

What a perfect video. My goal is to get the softest feeling iron that I can hit well. I went from AP2 to JPX 900 forged and really liked the feel of the Mizunos. I got fitted last summer and the T-200s won based on numbers, so that’s what I went with, I didn’t hit the JPX 919 forged all that well. I’m still interested in mizuno just for the nicer feel. I picked up some really cheap used MP-52s to practice with over the winter and do they ever feel nice when hit well.... from the sounds of things, the HMBs could be right up my alley.

Amazing how spot on so many who have been playing AP2s feel about switching over to some combo of what Mizuno is currently offering. Same situation, getting older just crossed the big 70 but still have enough game to take a few $$ from my buddies. I want to enjoy the feel of the game more than just distance / ego. Precision is what its all about now and having a lights out short game LOL. Oh the joys of retirement, age, and more playing / practice time per week!

I can only thank you for the kind feedback you have given and am glad that you enjoyed it. Hi Chris, good point there. It's been a while since those videos so no real honest answer to why I didn't. But from a Custom Fitting side of things there are usually used to either blend into, or through lie angle needs or pure players feel and aesthetic requirements 👍

Not necessarily and also never that with the help of Head Measuring Technology in the GCQuad that can't be explained due to delivery. Mostly this phenomenon is seen with the exceptionally hot faces of Game Improvement irons that are built to fire from all parts of the face. 👍

I just bought the 921 forged and playing off 7, to be honest I want to hit my driver to a position where I can hit the middle of the gree with my iron, just a straight shot which is mainly down to the shaft but I digress.......shot shape doesn't bother me, I just want forgiveness and a consistent straight ball flight which these will do, by doing that I will get down to a low single figure number. In short, these are a great option for me off 7.

Mizuno failed to inform the consumer about the 921 forged not having the Chromoly tech in the 8-9 irons until after the irons were launched. I spent months reading literature on these irons and even asked club fitters I know about the makeup of the 921 forged, and they all told me the whole set was Chromoly. I pre ordered these irons, and on the day I got them I almost shit, as I was livid to see the 8-9 irons being made of 1025E while the 4-7 irons were Chromoly. Had I known that, and given the price I paid for the tech only being in three of the clubs, I never would’ve bought them. I reached out to Mizuno and got a reply from Chris Voshall within a few minutes and he flat out admitted that Mizuno was not forthcoming with the consumer. I was friggen pissed. Very, very shady work by Mizuno. Left us in the dark.
