I’m currently stationed in Okinawa and was at this show. We don’t ask much for people’s recognition or appreciation, we understand this is a thankless job. But AA went far out of their way to show theirs to all of us. I cannot say how grateful everyone here is for what they did. This is a beautiful thing.

motionlessinashes love this band! And I’ve got a brother In the Air Force. Father is retired Air Force, Uncle was Army medic in Vietnam and my best friend is current Army, he might be deployed soon. Means a lot. Then the fact one of my favorite bands would not only play at a MC base but one in Japan is amazing! Most of these men and women go through unspeakable things so that we don’t have too and that we don’t experience bad things happening on our soil! They give so much and so it means a lot when civilians can at the least give something little in return!

My Dad is retired MGySgt, Marine Corps (26yrs). For this song, for making my daughter's dream come true (her seeing her top three bands, AA/BVB/CTE, live at The Pageant, STL) by graciously putting her name on you guest list without hesitation (I couldn't have done it without your help), and for just being a KICKASS, FREAKIN' ROCKIN' FREAKIN' band... from the bottom of this Marine Brat's/Mother's heart, THANK YOU AA! You guys are the BESTEST!

This randomly helped me. I’m a couple months away from going to Basic Training for the Marine Corps in Paris Island. Back in September I had to move out of state from my mom and all of my friends and practical family, all of my loved ones around me. It was for reasons that couldn’t be helped, but there are time where I can’t help feeling sad from the separation. These days I’m training on my own, prepping myself to be the best Marine I can possibly be. As I feel like I’m doing so much in life by myself, it helps to think of all the people personally connected to me and caring for/supporting me with everything I’m doing. Thank you Asking Alexandria.

In every uniform, behind every visor, in every tank, there is a son, a daughter, a partner, a brother, a sister, a dad, a mum, a soulmate, a best friend, a pet owner, a grandson, a godfather, a community member, a teammate, a biggest fan, a role model, a lover, neighbour, a flatmate, a supporter, a person who pays another person's bills, a volunteer, a political supporter, a chat friend, a caregiver, a friend with benefits, ... In the US army and in every other army. I love this collaboration and video, because it demystifies the role of the soldier: soldiers are humans before anything else. In my eyes, you give soldiers a bit of their humanity in a tense situation, a personality despite uniform(ity) - without stripping them off their soldier role.

My brother once told me, “It’s been a decade, you can let the Army stuff go.” -I’m a 60% disabled veteran in 24/7 nerve pain. I stumble out of the bed in the morning because my legs get stiff and won’t work right sometimes. Even ppl close often don’t really understand what it means to live the sacrifice you’ve made every day for the rest of your life. My wife and daughter waited on me, her and our kids are by my side everyday, and they are all I need in this world anyway.

Actual lyrics: [Chorus] Even though I'm on my own I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere Praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home, sweet home [Verse 1] It was you That told me I could do this You put the music in my heart And how you sang with the band in Memphis It's hard just to be strong Not knowing if I've done you proud I like to imagine You smile when you hear my songs [Chorus] Even though I'm on my own I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere Praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home, sweet home To call my own [Verse 2] A letter home And I know we don't speak much And we both know I'm not keen to But I think there's things I've left unsaid I'm okay, don't worry I'm trying to be a better man I'm going to try, yeah! [Chorus] Even though I'm on my own I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere Praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home, sweet home To call my own! Woah-woah-woah, yeah yeah! [Bridge] Even though I'm on my own I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere Praying that I make it home [Chorus] Even though I'm on my own I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere Praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home, sweet home To call my own Even though I'm on my own I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere Praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home, sweet home
