Although we are not huggers I ask Dad for a hug and say “I love you” and his reaction is exactly what I would expect. 🤣 “Have you been drinking?”

This was so adorable! Pretty much the same with my family, we were close and loved each other very much but very few times did we hug or say I love you. With my Dad wasn't until he found out he had Cancer that he hugged me or my sister and said we loved each other, same with my mom pretty much realized time was short and sometimes u need to say those words. I raised my son's a bit different where I said those words often and always had a hug for them even now that they are 32, 30 and 28 they never leave mom without a hug 🙂

So precious. My mother when she was never affectionate, but we all knew she loved us there was no question in that. She was not a hugger or someone to say I love you. When she was dying all 5 of us kids were gathered around her and she looked at all of us and said " I guess I should say I love you all" and that is how she said it and then she died. We all chuckled because that was our Mom. She was a wonderful Mother and we miss her everyday.

Aww, I do this for a living, in home live-in care, 20yrs now, and it never gets any easier. Sorry for u to lose your dad in this brutal way. My last client's daughter told me, "I lost my dad, the day this insidious disease crept into our home!" He was always such a loving and gentle soul and funny as heck, so we were lucky, he remained the same, and knew all the kids and grandkids abd their names, which was quite unusual, to the end. I loved him so dearly, were two peas in a pod, we laughed a lot, he was a song and dance man, and i went to drana school too, so we danced a lot, and he was such a great dancer too, he taught me the waltz The moment they dont know u anymore, every morning I wake up, I prayed God to please let him never forget who I am, and he never did, he would tell me everyday how he loved me, because I took such good care of him..and his family was so grateful for all i dod. I still miss him. For the families, I always feel so badly becos, when they don't recognize u anymore, U know your parent is gone. So tough!

I'm 60ish, woman in midwest, and MY parents were not 'huggers.' So, my brother and I would hug each other every time we saw each other. I hug all three of my adult kids anytime they are leaving, etc. My mom was 47 when she died from a brain tumor. I was 29 years old. Now, my 87 year old dad died three months ago. My brother committed suicide a few years back. I'm VERY grateful that I instilled 'hugging,' as well as, saying, "I LOVE YOU" (NOT 'love ya') to my three kids. Parents should feel free enough to hug their kids, even if they weren't hugged. It's all going to be OK. ❤❤❤

It brings back so many memories, and wishing that they were still with us. One thing you can say is that i loved deeply, and i did all that i could do. One thing for sure, you will never forget someone of that magnitude, especially when they were there for you growing up.*

In fact we don't have to always tell our family that we love them or always have to hug them to show them the love cause it should be shown by your interactions and behavior with them how much you care for each other.
