Not a sustainable lifestyle for a lot of people. $65K USD a year income is a big challenge for most people working under a digital nomad visa. I’m sure a lot of these kind of people go there for a year, get burned out, go home, next generation flies in. Repeat. I’m sure there are a lot of westerners working illegally in Bali. If you can make it work it’ll seem like a perpetual door, with everyone around you eventually picking up and leaving.

Word of warning for budding photographers, indeed other artists, creators, trainers. As a digital nomad you cannot take jobs from people or companies in Indonesia for payment or product - so be very careful! Even opening a PMA in photography would not allow the foreign director of this company to take photos - they can only direct. Surprised if this lady has not already been deported

The Indonesian Digital Nomad visa requires you to provide proof that your income is a minimum of US 65k p.a.

Shocked to hear that the SA guy only gets paid 3.5K gross, with US and AUS money. Indonesian tech workers, especially the senior and lead levels can earn similar or even more, with ID money.
