Come across your channel as I bought a bike about 4 months ago wanting to actually get out the house and enjoy something. It's sat there with me being to scared to go out on it, not knowing what to do, wear, where to go, scared of the open road. I'm only 36 but don't seem to be doing anything in life, so, I'm watching through your videos and I really think I might go out one morning on it early avoid traffic. Thank you for the videos.

I recently purchased a new gravel bike which came set up tubeless. I've had a couple of small punctures already that re-sealed on their own and we are holding pressure. I am carrying a couple of spare plugs, a small (60ml)bottle of sealant, and a mimi pump, but no tube. I don't know what it is, but I feel way more confident against issues with punctures on my gravel bike than my road bike with tubes. I've been riding my gravel bike everywhere now.

Thanks for another enjoyable ride Leonard, nice to see green fields again, so dry here in SW Spain! Most of my riding is on a Kalkhoff ebike due to arthritis, average 120-150 km a week, bike now well over #27,000 km, stripped down, mtb tyres for the off road tracks I ride much of the time! My favourite road bike has a triple front still, but an 11/40 9 speed rear end, great for the hills, but cant ride it off road as only takes 28mm road tyres!

Great content by the way. What gearing is on the gravel bike? My "winter/hill" bike (tubes'n'rims lol) has been converted over to 30/46 by 11-36 and I love it compared to the standard compact on my "good" bike, and I've never ran out of top gears on it (recent descent of Bealach Na Ba into Applecross I got a Strava 13th out of 995 for the 55-64 age category, got into the 46/11 briefly, goes to show we don't need big alpine style gearing!), but the gears just don't feel so spaced apart on it... Here in the Highlands I'm still in "spring" clothing, it's truly abysmal this summer and the loch I swim in locally seriously has remained pretty cold, should be nice and warm right now...
@davidburgess7415 ай бұрын
24 and 44 tooth chainrings are possible with Sora 9 speed and 12-34 custom cassette. Usually if I'm going 20mph or better, assuming you're best aero position usually 11:09 will get just as fast as pedaling anyway. Riding solo, an older rider probably can't benefit much from bigger gears, but smaller, gamechanger.
@jollygoodvelo5 ай бұрын
My gearing is 50/34 11/28. It’s nice and light but I still run out of gears at times. Well done on your rides!

@@jollygoodvelo Jings.... that's standard "road gearing" that's often on "beginners" bikes that probably put most of them off that live in hilly areas! I recently bought a Vitus Substance VRS gravel bike and it has 30/46 by 11/34 in the 2x10 GRX, and I'm about to experiment with an 11-40 on that(may need a roadlink/extender?)to give a 30/40 low... 34/28 is nasty once you leave the tarmac lol!!!

From Oz … good morning. You’re back on a bike and your back is back on a bike! You have lovely local lanes to ride. Some are even becoming familiar now from watching your videos. Tyres? If current tyres are a little puncture-prone there’s two things, of course. 1. Go tubeless. 2. Change the tyre brand and size (if rim width allows, opt for say Pirelli Grave H 45mm). There are significant differences from both options.
