They both oppose the Shogunate, he does it with political schemes, she does it by helping people. He's water, she's fire. I'm liking this. a large majority of fics aren’t canon compliant, this goes for every fandom i’ve seen. you could do “canon divergence where they meet”, which gives you the added bonus of fun new conflict or new solutions to conflict that results from them meeting. or “au where they meet”, aus don’t have to be bound to canon, so pretty much everything is fair game to decide (except character’s personalities, fuckin write an original story if you’re gonna make them ooc. also, similar roles/situations to canon or lines pulled from canon and repurposed are fantastic.)
