ASKING MY GHANAIAN MUM HARD QUESTIONS WHILE SHE COOKS KANGAROO MEAT | LIVING IN GHANA
My mum was born and raised in Ghana. She moved to Australia from Ghana, over 30years ago. We basically had to start a relationship when I was 17 because I had been away from her since I was 5years old.
Here is a conversation with her. Get to know us.

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana, from the Ghanaian food, to the Ghanaian culture, to the Ghanaian lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and help inspire to explore Ghana.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.

She is the quintessential embodiment of all the universal qualities characteristic of a woman and a mother. Much love for and very proud of her . As much as possible, get her back to share life experiences and on any subject she wants to talk about.

Lots of respect to your Mum, because she did what most African mothers would not do by pouring her heart out to you on camera. I can relate so much to her situation as a Mother to 3 beautiful girls who lost their Dad at a very young age and I had to relocate with them to Denmark. Such conversations are very necessary between Mothers and their daugthers especially, so as to prepare them for the life ahead of them.

Thanks so much to you both for sharing of yourselves. I'm so pleased to hear that being sent to Ghana worked out well for you and your brother. It seems the move was managed well. I tried to stay silent but for the sake of others, I need to show the other perspective. I believe the African and African-Caribbean practice of sending or leaving one's children in/to the home country to live with extended family or sometimes friends; can and often does long term emotional harm to the child. The impact of which can last into adulthood. This is part of my story, having experienced such a separation aged 10-15. When I was sent from the UK to Jamaica to live with extended family members. The repurcussions were enormous, my family did not handle things well and I experienced 5yrs of neglect and abuse whilst in Jamaica. I am now 57, it took decades to heal the wounds caused to me. In my work as a psychotherapist, I have come across numerous others struggling to live with the wounds which are rooted in similar separations. I judge no-one as I write here. But to any parent reading this, who is considering sending or leaving their child. I say, unless your child will come to harm from remaining with you. I suggest that under your love and care, is the best place for them. By keeping them by your side, you could well be saving them from a lifetime of heartache. Dr Elaine Arnold founded the Separation and Reunion Forum (UK) to look into this very issue. Once again I thank you Jasmine, for a thoughtful and thought provoking video. All my best, E

Try cutting onions near the sink with the water running (a heavy trickle); the onion juice is attracted to water, and that's why your eyes water, the water from the tap will be more the water in your eyes--works like a charm. It's good that as an adult you are able to talk with your mum about the decisions she made and the relationship between your parents and allow her to clarify for you. Too many adult kids of divorce keep their focus on the negative aspects that may exist although they may know that hard decisions had to be made cognitively, the inner child gets grieved and may react negatively to those choices, and that can lead to a breakdown in their relationship with their parents

@@toakonouzoko9449 Absolutely right. I am a child of divorce, and I had to always be deliberate in handling matters that concerned my son and his dad because I didn't want to perpetuate any circles, so I had to be extra careful. I feel that I've been successful in that regard, by looking at every situation and trying my hardest to bring about a positive outcome; but being honest, I still question the level of success

What wonderful content! Loved your mum. She seems so down to earth a sensible well adjusted person you would love to just have lunch and conversation with. I was close to my mother and wish I could go shopping with her, have coffee together, listen to her advice. She has been gone since 1995, I am a older woman now and so glad a had a great mother, enjoy yours. One day all you will have are the memories and pictures. Hope you will encourage her be on camera more. Out of all the young content creators on You Tube you are the best and a natural. Love the segments when you show case every day hard working Ghanaians and help them monetarily. The others just preen, show off their outfits, wealthy people. Your content is more varied. This is coming from an African- American woman in her early seventies who hopefully, God willing will visit Ghana for the first time in Dec. It has been on my bucket list and looking forward to it!

I don't usually comment, however, this was such a beautiful chat between you and your mum. I absolutely enjoyed it! Your mum is a sweetheart, and I can notice the high respect you have for your mum. She shared some gems with you there regarding long-term relationship! By the way, you guys make me hungry now...off for a bite!

Lovely interview with mum, sometimes as mothers you have to do what is best for you because way down the line they have to prepare the pathway for there children that's why most of them when leave their country for betterment and children comes before it's fulfil they would sent them back to there respectful country were they know they will be cared for until they pass the struggles and get on there feet, it happens all the time.

Jasmine, good job 👍🏾. This was a very interesting vlog. It exposes the roots of your character, personality and drive. Being strong and unselfish, I believe both of your parents did what they thought was best for their children, willing to sacrifice to allow you to have better life with greater opportunities. I applaud 👏🏾 their efforts to provide you with opportunities that allow you to “follow your bliss.” This is what is missing in today’s society, parents that sacrifice so that their offspring have deeper roots to build on.
