In this episode, we will address a question about how to allocate a RM 7mil net worth investment portfolio. But to me, instead of discussion investment with a millionaire, I've decided to talk about pursuing passion and turning it into a 2nd career.
After striving the first half of his life with a result of RM 7mil in investment, maybe it's now to develop further in finding his calling.

That's the reason why I dont get why most of the people want to buy big big houses in the end only 2 person staying. But I am so glad and inspired by the questioner to have so much assets and very little liability. I will be aiming towards that for sure... Clearing off my study loan and quickly pay off mortgage while having money somewhat balanced on leisure and investment. I strongly believe in this newer generation, being happy with your job and grateful with what you are doing on your day-to-day basis is somewhat considered as "retire" as you have nothing much to worry about.

You knocked the nail on its head Sean. Advice 101 for retirees like me. Kudos to you and keep it up, maestro....

I’m 52 and likewise pondering when to take the foot off the gas; ruminating over how much financial buffer is needed when you’re unlikely to be able to do active income generation again. When I was younger I heard the advise offered but it frankly never resonated with me; it seemed distant and irrelevant. Now that I’m an empty nester, it seems more pertinent to have these thoughts and I agree that with an impressive rm 6-7 mio in assets, it should be very possible to have a comfortable retirement in Malaysia when the bulk of those assets are used for passive income generation. Personally, regardless of financial security or not,I want to keep pushing at least till I’m 70 and have fun with the ups and downs of an active business life, achieving goals together with other people, being on a mission as a team and I hope that will be possible and I won’t be subjected to ageism. The idea of traveling and easing off now isn’t so attractive when you’ve already had an active life filled with plenty of (business) travel. I think the questioner should keep some cash buffer, hold on to both properties given the cost to enter and exit the market (pay to play!) and consider moving to a nice windy and cool condo that is low maintenance. I recommend Desa Parkcity which has a great environment and a lot of conveniences. Personally I’d rather invest in condos than landed given the maintenance burden which is mostly outsourced at a condo, but I don’t think I would bother getting out once I was already in on the landed, unless there was an excellent offer. Speaking from personal painful experience I’m very wary of other advise about equities and financial instruments; in my book, over the long haul, there is nothing that beats investing in your own work and property investments in REAL estate. I’d love to see more videos like this, mixing hard financial advise with life philosophy and aspirations. living the good life imho is much more than chasing the dollar; it is about mindfulness, kindness, contribution, integrity, love and family. Keep up the great work Sean

If 7mil cannot retire now, what will happen to us those 28-30? 😭😭😭

Well it's a choice lah. But the discussion is more of the concept of retirement. It may be fun to do nothing for a week, or a month. But when you have another 30 years to go... Hahahaha.

First maybe financial plan for retirement for youngsters. Then life planning that discover what you love to do.

Hmm…I think I kind of can relate to the guy..50’s, single, with rather either not a lot but not too little wealth is kind of lost in finding right path of early retirement, lost in direction on how and where to make some investment that generate some income while still seeking the second life objective. Seriously, 7M is really not alot in current Malaysia with such crazy inflation rate. Maybe is just lost in direction.

This is more like flaunting his wealth. I cannot believe he does not have a financial/wealth planner. And he should be asking himself about his monthly cost of living if his RM10k rental income suffice. Whether he wants to downgrade is personal choice since he mentioned 1500sf is too small for him. Personally don't think this is worth a discussion but anyway, thanks for the video.

Totally agree... Sounds to me like bragging.. with abroad experience, sound financial status..I clicked on this video hoping to get inspiration what kind of property could buy for elderly days, since Malaysia property market is very fragile and slower turn around time

Own stay property is consumption, way too much IMHO. Fully paid means the entire investable sum of RMB 2.3M is earning him what... a couple percent per year net?! Don't know, need to explore that. The returns will be higher, even for a 52yo, in a diversified equities/bonds/commodities portfolio. Honestly, I think, he should be living in a 700k property (10% of net worth) OR EVEN BETTER rent one that suits him at the regular 3% yield that landlords are making, pocketing the difference in yield. Way too much money in real estate, I'd dump 80% of it!

Thanks for this very inspiring sharing boss. Learnt another new word today: Ikigai. You are right, when one is too focus on achieving something for quite some time, one might not know what to do after achieving their objective. That is why I just set a general goal in life which is to have an enjoyable and meaningful (good and bad) experience of this world since I am going to be here only once. I am currently enjoying what I am doing and also looking out for new things to do by hanging around friends who are into things that were originally not part of my plan. One will never know whether something is enjoyable or not until one gives it a try. It is better to try first and judge later.

I think the questioner wanted to move out because a Semi-D is really too BIG for a divorcee... I strongly suggest the questioner to find his ikigai, maybe he likes jogging/gardening then can consider livestyle township like DPC or Mont Kiara. Or he loves to be close to action then his desire to stay in PJ/KL really make sense.
