Finding the mud that came from the old stamp mills or Chilean mills can not only give you a lot of info on what the Gold was hosted in ....most of the smaller mills where not set up properly making the tailings ( Mud ) still profitable to mine as they contain Gold in them. If you find them make sure to grab samples of them and pan them out. You may be sitting on easy Gold. There is an area right north of Placerville in California, up around the Gold Bug Mine, where the ground is riddled with old mines. Drifts, inclines, shafts, stopes, cave-ins. The rock is vertically foliated slate, and some of the slabs can come down like giant guillotine blades.

Reminds me of the Forrest Fenn treasure. Forrest put a huge treasure for people. He wrote a book to het people out and about looking for it. It was found right before he died by a colledge student who needed it. Many people looked for it and some died in the process. At one time he was pressured to call off the hunt. But he didnt and it was found. There is lots or stories out of untold treasures and the cave in tge grand canyon is one but i think its more than a story. Well happy hunting to you all. And always know the greatest treasure in the world is in enjoying your life no matter what you do.

That's some good ore you found. Kinda looks like stuff from iron county, but that was mined for iron. But high concentrations of hematite and magnetite. Some quartz or calcite as well.

I explored an old mine in NC with my buddies, back in college. Found some tunnels, we probably shouldn’t have gone, that had partially collapsed. An Interesting and a little humorous story about the site…A person that was oblivious to the old hidden mine….Many years prior, was digging a well… above this property, and the bottom fell out! He landed inside one of the old network of tunnels. He was shaken, but not really harmed. This was on a big ridge above a river, and the entry was on the hillside above the stream. We found where he fell through during our exploration. The poor man had no clue what was about to happen, I could only imagine that feeling.😊

Great fun looking for the treasure. My inner lawyer, however, kept thinking of the treasure trove rule as it still exists in the various western states. The finder of gold/silver bars, plates, and coins has superior title versus the whole world except the owner who buried it, and the owner would have to find it again to assert his title. The rule has fallen out of favor over the years, but you never know when some guy in baggy shorts will come by with his metal detector.

J, I appreciate you responding to my questions when I submit them on the video. Seeing how I am in the Northeast, and I won't be able to make it to 1 of your gold camps. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction please. I live in Rhode island, and there isn't much here in the way of gold. But I know vermont, new hampshire, and maine have more. I just want to go 1 weekend b4 it gets cold to try it out. I do not have any delusions of getting rich either. But it would be cool to find some. What are the indicators I should be looking for on a map, and when I get boots on the ground to pick the correct location to pan and dig. Idk if I should go to my college geology department, or keep on looking for maps online. I keep looking for a map of prehistoric volcanic activity in the Northeast, but most of the websites are a joke. Please advise if you can. I am ready to rip my hair out.
