Thank you! Had loud vibrations during spin cycle, but didn't turn out to be this. Two of the concrete blocks were not tightly bolted any more to the tub. Tightened all of them with a 10 mm socket, all good now! This is after 8 years of 3x weekly use. Great video by the way! Helped me out to open up the machine properly.

@@Rymlaas managed it with a normal small socket wrench. Most can be reached just by taking the top off, some from the bottom as in the video. The sound mine was giving was more like rapid hammering while spinning fast.

What a great video ? I have a new LG washing machine thats 7 month old and had this bloody problem from new. I have checked the level over and over but makes no difference. It even shakes with 2 or 4 items in. Transport bolts are removed. I expected better from LG especially with them not been the cheapest. I feel like sending it back. Many Thanks

check the two counter weights for looseness located on the front housing of the drum. You probably have to remove the front door gasket and the front panel to access these weights! Its simply tightening these if they're loose. Also check the aforementioned housing hangar springs for correct position being attached to the drum housing.

I'm thinking rather than rocking side to side, you should check corner to corner. Very often you'll just have to adjust one leg only. Mine is level, but it's still vibrating a bit too much and it's brand new! I did remove all four shipping bolts. Very good video!

@@askmrwashywashy no wood floor. Concrete in garage. What I did, was while spinning, I loosen the locknut and laying on my side on the floor, I slowly with light pressure extend (lower) the low corner until machine smooths out and doesn't rock any more. check level and done. Problem I had, was when installers put washer on pedestals, I think they should have made sure there was no rocking, then tighten all those screws. They explained it wasn't necessary because of the screws. I think they should have double checked rather than assume. It doesn't walk anymore and is smooth, but I think it could be smoother. Thanks for a very good video.

I took my lg wm3600hva apart to clean the rubber drum boot and drain lines. I tilted it back once during that process. After putting it back together it started backing a banging noise and “walking”. Since then I’ve tried leveling it out and replacing the shock absorbers. I still can’t get it to work properly. I’m 100% sure I put everything back together correctly.

Thank you for the video. I have a LG washer Model WM3070HWA. It was shaking something fierce, and making banging noise. Which at first we put down to heavy off-center loads. Then I found your video. When I took the bottom off to grease the shocks, I found a lag bolt and a piece of broken plastic with marks corresponding to the lag bolts screw thread in the bottom of the washer, along with a bunch of fine black plastic and metal debris. I could not discern where they came from. It was NOT a shipping lock... the machine had run fine for over 8 years. I greased the shocks, returned the washer to the upright position. Then I took off the top by undoing the bottom screw on each of the two white plastic tabs in back of the washer straddling the seam between top panel and the main body of the washer, and sliding the top panel to the rear, to unhook it from the mushroom head bosses engaging keyhole slots on the bottom flange of the top panel. Looking from the top, it was apparent the lag screw was one of four that fit into respective ones of four collets on the top front of the washer barrel . The broken piece of plastic was one of the collet fingers. The four collets are clearly there to hold on a curved black-plastic coated weight about half a meter long, with four holes within which the collets are expanded by screwing in the lag screws to hold the weight onto the top front of the washer barrel. I was able to see these collets clearly because the weight was completely off, standing on end on the right side of the door (looking from the front). It was obvious that the fine black plastic and metal debris was caused by two of the remaining lag bolts hitting, wearing, and gouging the plastic coating on the metal weight as the barrel bounced around, because he gouges in the plastic coating were in two spots which were in line with the right hand two of the lag bolts. The collet with the broken finger was on the left side, under the soap dispenser tray, and was NOT in a position to hit the weight where I found it on the right side....I don't think the weight had shifted much when I laid the machine on the left side to access the bottom, because it would have been supported by the closed inwardly extending door. I can't see any other significant damage, just some wear marks, and a hose that had come loose from an anchor point. ... it looks like the curved weight came off, and slid around the inwardly protruding door, and came to rest in a "stable" vertical position held between the door and the right side panel. The washer was still working....just really jumped around and banged in the spin cycle and sometimes rinse cycle. My thought is that I could likely use some epoxy glue to hold the single collet finger that broke off back in place (it was on the left side, under the soap dispenser tray, and was NOT in a position to hit the weight where I found it on the right side... not sure how it broke), put some liquid PVC maintenance coating (the kind of stuff you dip tool handles in to give them a plastic coating) onto the gouges in the plastic coating of the metal weight), undo all the other three lag bolts, and put the weight back onto the collets, and screw the lag bolts back in to re-expand the collet fingers to hold the weight in place. But... I don't know if there is anything beyond the friction between the collet fingers and the weight that is supposed to hold the weight in place. Is there some sort of coating that is supposed to be applied.... something like (but NOT) Locktite. I don't see any sign of any such thing on the collet fingers or in the holes on the weight. I was wondering if there were something in some service bulletin given to repairmen that you could suggest . Something I could do that would help ensure the the weight would not come off again... something that is NOT PERMANENT AND NOT IRREVERSIBLE, like putting a permanent plastic glue on the outside of the collet fingers before sliding the weight on would be. Your thoughts, please? UPDATE: I have gone ahead and done what I was thinking about doing: 0) I laid the machine back down on the left side (if I dropped something, I didn't want to have to chase it down through the machine ... and possibly have it lodged where it was difficult to retrieve). 1) I glued the broken collet finger back in place using a 2 part epoxy for plastic (and dropped it before I could get some packing tape around to to hold it in place... lucky thing about the previous step 3) I used the liquid electrical tape/plasti-dip handle stuff (liquid PVC maintenance coating) to put two coats on each place where the plastic coating on the metal weight was gouged down to the metal. 24 hours later, I unscrewed the remaining three lag bolts, took off the packing tape wrapped around the repaired collet, slid the weight back fully in place over the 4 collets, fully screwed in each lag screw, and verified that the weight was securely in place. I had NOT put any sort of glue or coating on outside of the collets to fix the weight in place; the only glue involved was the epoxy holding the broken collet finger in place and it was fully cured before putting the weight on. I stood the washer up, and checked things out.... the washer barrel was hanging clear of everything off of two springs, with the rear of the barrel lower than the front near the door. I guessed this was okay... keeps water away from the door seals. Anyway... moment of truth: Ran a load of big cloth towels. The machine ran EXTREMELY smoothly... just like new. Thank you, Mr. Washy Washy! Question: Do you recommend greasing the shocks regularly, and if so, on what interval? Or just do it when it starts getting rough again (I DO NOT WANT THE WEIGHT TO COME OFF AGAIN... I was lucky nothing was smashed as it came off!)?

Great fix mate. Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. Was away on holidays. Sadly this issue happens too often with the weights. If you catch it early enough like you did. You can use epoxy and fix it. Greasing the shocks, they should be good for the next 3-4 years now. No need to grease them often. Great job on the fix again. Glad you fixed it

And the inside rim of the plastic housing of the drum, is kind of worn on the upper left side. But I've used a woodworking level, to make sure its 100% level front to back/side to side. I would suggest taking off the top of your LG washer and inspecting PRIOR to laying over on the side. For one thing, if YOUR weight came off like mine did (see my previous comment) it may allow you to remove the weight before it falls after the washer is turned on its side, possibly damaging component. The photos below show the big heavy black weight which was supposed to be fixed to the washer tub, and a view of the washer tub where you can see two of the four sets of collet fingers, one with a lag screw screwed in, and the other without a lag screw, because one of the collet fingers broke off and the lag screw fell out (shown in my hand along with the broken collet finger.) I also found a hose that was supposed to be anchored by a zip tie with a push - connection into a drilled hole, which had pulled the push connection out... I was able to reattach the hose. (Edit.... doh, I can't insert photos in the comments. Ignore that bit)/

Great video...thanks!! I have an LG WM 12225FD I know at least 15 years old!! I look after things and the front still looks in showroom condition I have once or twice had a lot of noise when in the washing cycle, not when filling or emptying... from what I believe to be the recirculation pump. Strangely it only seems to occur when I deep clean the washer..no clothes, drum empty. Am I probably right in my assumption firstly is there a pump that will fit this model, is there a vid for this? I have a vid for the water/drain pump fix for this exact model. Secondly, the 'walk-about' issue you discuss and show here... is it pretty much the same for this model? Thanks again. By the way with this machine I will have had it 16 years in May this year... only ever had one issue.. the recirc pump... this is why I think it's the same issue.

Hi thanks I enjoy making these videos glad you're finding value in them. yes the vibration issue will also apply to your model. The shock absorbers are the same on these models they haven't changed much. Regarding the recirculating pump issue. I would recommend disconnecting the wires connected to it. The recirculating pump is the same as the main drain pump so changing it would be am similar process. Also wondering have the bearings/spider been replaced before on your washer ?

@askmrwashywashy
@askmrwashywashy 3 жыл бұрын
So the very long and not spinning also depends on other things. Usually its trying to balance the clothes in the washer. You need to make sure you don't put in more than halfway up the door. Also make sure you've put more than three or four clothes in there. Blankets and doonas will also cause problems so don't wash them. The grease will help it. Does your washer give an error code ? can you spin it without clothes inside?

I might be loosing my mind, mine doesnt walk unless its really loaded down....but mine also does this thing where it tries to spin up and seems it struggles to balance the load. so it will keep doign it over and over again, and then at some point it will sort itself out and finish the job. The machine never movees, the machine is level. I cant figure out if its normal for it to be doing this. Sincerely, the guy working from home whos mudroom is next to the office lol

I just bought a new washing machine LG front load 7.5kg (WV5- 1275W). It vibrates and makes so much noise. I got someone did levelling to make sure it sits perfectly balance (I don’t have levelling problem with the top loading machine. ) It still makes much noise when it spins. It is an new washing machine already I have many trouble with it. I wonder how it can survive 10years. Needs an mechanical person around house if you buy a LG washing machine. As they will charge you to come to check the problem. I saw another video telling that my new machine may have the loose bolt on top weight loading part.

My 11 years old Maytag wash & dryer set was fine until we slide the set away from the wall to fix the water inlet on the wall box. Afterwards we didn't remove the 4 sliders. Of course the set will vibrate and shake. Now after a month, one day it became very loud at the spinning cycle. We remove the sliders but smell burning rubber after wash. However, it seems return normal after a couple days. Should i worry and get a new set of wash and dryer? It seems that the stainless steel drum and the rubber gasket near the door is not aligned...

These are friction dampers. They work by providing friction resistance to an oscillating system. How can lubricating something that is supposed to supply friction drag possibly solve the problem?
@ashfaqjuna
@ashfaqjuna 2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I am not an expert. But I think it's not relying on classic friction of surfaces rubbing against each other. Rather it looks like the rubber rings/seals at the ends act as pistons in the cylinders. They must really on air being pushed out and sucked in through a small opening which is what the ' resistance ' comes from. The metal shafts should be able to move freely and Hence I think the grease will help.
@physicsphirst191
@physicsphirst191 2 жыл бұрын
@@ashfaqjuna Could be correct, that was my first reaction as well. But I subsequently have deduced that these are simple friction dampers, similar to what used to be installed on cars. Had he recommended damping grease, which creates friction between moving parts, it would have made more sense. Thanks for the reply!😃

@@ashfaqjuna Same here. I have new dampers ("shock absorbers") on order, should have them by Monday. Difficult to find dampers, some have awful reviews on Amazon (complete with photographs of fractured new dampers), and LG no longer has them.🤐

Hi can anyone give advice on my machine if it's normal or something to be concerned about, we just bought it last month so I doubt the shock absorbers are the problem so that only leaves balancing as a possible cause. Now I should specify it has no wobble if I try to shake it since it was installed by the delivery people, but since then we had to move it a bit closer to the wall because it's too big in our small bathroom. The point is it's fairly loud and if we leave any items on it they fall off, the old one didn't do that. It doesn't wobble or move though so is this something to worry about or is it normal?

@@askmrwashywashy thanks for replying, I'm pretty sure the things that hold the drum in place for transport are removed. I do only load it half way at most but it doesn't make any difference if it's half full or just one towel, it only helps a little if I set it to slower speeds. I'm just concerned if it's vibrating more than it should, like we can't leave any items on it they fall off of the machine, is that normal? Also the display seems to vibrate too when it's in the spin cycle and I'm worried some internal parts might loosen from the vibrations. Thinking back on it this may have started after we tried putting a rubber mat under it to try and make it quieter but we may have made it worse, I'll see if some of the legs need adjustment
