Hi Scott, Idiot here. Thank you so much , I`ve just ordered a W11 AOI PC, so found this very very useful and well explained. It makes a nice change to hear from an expert who doesn`t automatically assume everyone else is an expert. Thank you.

Excellent tutorial. Greatly appreciated. It seems you are one of the few that can speak fluently with NO NONSENSE on the layman level with clear and concise detail that even I could follow, unlike some others that insert useless "info" with a whole heap of stupid "carry-on". I have gone back and watched every single video you have made recently and I can find nothing in any of them that I disagree with. All your commentary, tips and tricks just make sense and have purpose.Full stop. Please keep up the good work. From an Aussie..THANK YOU!

Very helpful overview of windows . . . The TROUBLESHOOTERS in windows hardly ever work for me and can be frustrating. My wife is a novice user. She asked me why Microsoft does 'changes' and 'updates' without notification that make her computing experience worse. I informed her that MS has been doing this for years, and it's how they irritate users.

Thank You for putting this out there for computer illiterate individuals like myself. My old Dell finally took a dump on me and I had to get a new Dell and of course it came with Windows 11 and I know absolutely nothing about it with the exception of being able to access KZbin thankfully. I subscribed and liked your video so I can "Hopefully" come back and take baby steps until I get the hang of what I'm dealing with. As a side note I already learned from your video how to increase the Font size so I'm not straining my poor tired old eyes to read what I'm typing.

I had downloaded this video a few weeks ago when I knew I was going to upgrade. I just finished watching it, and this video is GOLD to me. Heh heh, dial-up is a very specialized use case. As a Network Engineer, I have installed COM servers with built-in modems to allow console access to network device console ports, especially to remote sites. If I needed to do late night updates, changes or troubleshooting, sometimes VPN access wasn't available, or I would need to see the device console during boot. A dial-up connection was crucial when network connection wasn't available.

Fair. Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on talking slower - there's a fine line between talking at "ultra-novice" level and "normal user" level, usually will add 10-20 minutes and that's a lot to ask of most viewers. I also get "don't talk so slow", so I really can't win lol

Have a video recommendation. I tried searching through you vids but couldn't find it ... at least not in one place anyway. How about a video that shows you exactly what you need to do to setup up a newly bought pc/laptop? Starting right with the local login rather than microsoft login (one of your vids). When should you install your virus program ... before or after backing up and creating a reocovery? What installed programs should (could) be deleted? What should be addded (your vid ... The LAST flash drive you will ever need). Think this might make for an interesting vid and would definitely help lots of people. I'm hunting for a new laptop so thought of this idea when today's new video popped up on my feed. :)

Made one a while back for Windows 11 (How to setup Windows 11 - SUPER EASY! kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2fbYqJoeJdlprM) Software installs are tricky. What works for me isn't necessarily best for you. And the local login bypass doesn't always work on every revision of Windows 11. If I had included that, I'd be getting hundreds of comments saying "doesn't work". Instead, I did make a video "9 settings you should change" that specifically deals with switching to a local account and how to do it. Hope this helps! 👍

Wow .. that's a metric ton of chapter marks. 😮 Windows 11 never bothered me and I was an early adopter due to my Intel 12th and 13th Gen CPUs. Hey Scott, first I want to thank you for all f your great info. I'm looking for a review you recently did on a Windows laptop. I still have a week to decide but the 'Ohio sales tax holiday July 30-Aug 8' Is one of the primary factors along with price less than $500 other than features and functionality of the laptop itself. I purchased my current used laptop about 18 months ago and it's starting to do crazy things; I can't type a sentence without requirement to check my typing. It started with the B key and now several other letters are beginning to not respond unless I go back and type it again.

My wife, a teacher, bought a new laptop with Windows 11, and that's how I ended up here. I've been on Linux since about 2000, MX Linux for the past few years. Download it and you'll never look back. My machine dual boots into Windows 10, but I never use it.

@@AskYourComputerGuy Over the years, I've used several Linux distributions. The one I'd recommend is MX Linux. It's easier to use than Windows and, besides the manual, has an MX Tour which gives one two or three minute bites of information with images about the various aspects of the distro. Also, being Debian-based, the repository has over 50,000 free packages. Windows wants to think for one and gets in the way. Linux puts one in the driving seat--you think and tell it what to do. The only reason everybody is not using Linux is because very few people are really interested in computers. Hard to understand, isn't it? I build them, have a degree in IT and create web applications.

As a suggestion.... And I mean that gently, because I love this channel... a monthly / bi monthly "How to install Windows the right way" issue? I only say that because at 4am this morning I reinstalled Win 10 on a HP Pavilion.... and it was.... soooooooo easy. Compared to the Win 11 I did last week..... which sucked, and took 4 days. If you take this request - don't keep them up - delete as you go. Just a "current" "how to install windows" guide. My personal experience is crappy - I know enough to get in trouble, then have to look to the net for help. But thats how we learn, eh? 20 years ago I was an IT manager... not any more!!!! A simple step by step - preferably that bypasses MS Login.... yeah... and keep it updated. You're a trusted source. Could be a regular thing for you.

I would like to be able to do a search and replace on the month, i.e. 2024_07_01, 2024_07_02, and change it to 2024_08_01, 2024_08_02 and so on. It is such a pain to do it manually. Hi Scott, I`m still using Win 10 and was really worried about upgrading to Win 11 as I`d heard it was vastly different to 10, so I was going to hang on until 2025 when I had to do it, but your great video has shown me that I needn't be worried, I`d happily cope with it. One question though is will it still work with a program called Classic Start which replaces the start menu and gives you an old school start menu? I really would like to keep this if at all possible, in fact if the answer is no it wont work with that, I`d be back to hanging on until 2025! Cheers from the UK.

I've now got my PC and been working with Win 11 for about 3 weeks now, its OKish but so many things about it are driving me nuts, like the simple thing of being able to drag the Taskbar up to increase its size to accommodate more icons. The missing right contextual menu, whereby to get to delete you now have to click through another menu to get back to the one with delete on it. Why cant MS just improve new OS`s and leave the good things going. If it aint broke dont fix it! LOL
