You CAN do stuff like the jump assassinations in AC1, but it’s more involved and is essentially a hidden mechanic that is not tutorialized or fleshed out. The executioner dude from Damascus (i think) has a built in approach that culminates with a flashy opportunity to air assassinate him from over his head

Yeah, I found out about that mechanic by accident. If you aligned yourself precisely with the enemy and jumped at them while hitting the attack button, Altair would kill them but it was a very hard to pull off move.

@@LordSeth-hf8ew it's easy to forget when you're playing, and the poor communication of game mechanics is still a problem, I don't believe the game should hold ypur hand every step you taek, but it should at least make you aware of game mechanics existing and how they work without needing a list of shit they arbitrarily decide to not tell you about so you can actually make use your full arsenal of moves conciously when the time is right.

I think the reason why the second game looks the way it does is that the team wanted to replicate the look of the old paintings from the Renaissance. The Ezio Collection receive some backlash for changing the graphics to make it more…uh, realistic?

Actually the bribe mechanic is much better once you realize that after doing the bribe, you can pickpocket the money you spent (and then some) for only a small increase in notoriety. It's quicker than tearing down two posters and you profit this way.

The AC1 fighting techniques you forgot to mention before are taught to you in training right after Altair gets the skill. I ignored these back in the day but in my recent replay I payed attention and it broadens the scope of combat in AC1. It might be my new favorite AC combat system but i don't want to jump the gun with it being so new to me.

Do you think assassins hear a trumpet playing whenever they go out to do contracts? I could've sworn I heard it pretty clearly when Ezio took on the Templars, but especially when he stabbed Uberto. Not that I could really blame him for such brutality. This is a secret war, after all.

Im pretty sure they explained the mask for the carnival is used as a pass into the event where the target is not just used for a disguise. That’s why we needed to compete for it. I may be misremembering but I played the hell out of this game.

A neat detail I found as a kid, when you bribe heralds you can pickpocket them to get your money back, plus extra. The best part is you keep the -50% notoriety, but +5% from pickpocketing. Pretty good rate if you ask me

I feel like 2 was a massive improvement over 1 in every way, but I still feel like the gameplay needed some fixing, fighting enemies became a chore after awhile and those dlc chapters went on WAYYYY too long and in the Ezio Collection its built right into the main game. That being said, I believe that the story in AC2 is the best before they kind of rebooted the series (haven't played past unity) Ezio is amazing and seeing his growth is super rewarding

The complicated controls were necessary for more manual control. You're right about the bad tutorialising but a big issue in the kenway games was how often you'd accidently parkour.

With new techniques, hay bale and ledge assassinations, there are high profile alternatives. The hay bale one you jump out and assassinate, don't know how this could be useful. With the ledge you jump up and kill them on the roof, useful if you dont want to alert people below.

The reason Rodrigo walks away after stabbing Ezio is because it was actually a lethal hit, but the armour of Altair saves him. Of course this makes no sense if you don't bother collecting all the seals.

Fighting with a Pope that doesn't care about being a head of a church fist to fist is so stupid that it's really enjoyable. Especially with the music that plays during it! A techno remix of Ave Maria prayer during a fight with a freaking Pope. That's something that you'd see only in an AC game lol Also I really hate that when you get notorious meter to 100 in Rome then it still changes the soundtrack for Notorious theme. You can easly miss out some pretty climatic ost during this mission thanks to that :(

There are actually a bunch of scenes where sound effects are missing. So I took the liberty of adding them when they're supposed to happen. For that scene, I felt fart with reverb made this particular scene more impactful.
