Awesome thanks! For the first time, I have a deaf student in my design class and I'd like to be able to sign "Good morning, how are you". We have interpreters who sign my lectures for her, but I wanted to at least be able to greet her in the morning.

I’m trying to learn ASL because I am a starbucks barista in a target store, there is this guy that works in the store and he comes over but my coworkers have a hard time understanding him unless he types out everything on his phone. I already knew a bit of asl but am trying to broaden my vocabulary to be able to talk to him better, thank you so much for your videos, they are quick and straight to the point!
@savvysadistic7728 Жыл бұрын
Omg same! Tarbucks barista here too and I have a regular who is deaf and soo sweet. I’ve learned a few things from her like thank you. I just looked for you’re welcome and sorry the other day (her drink was messed up). And now I’m learning some conversational signs like this so I can actually ask her how she’s doing and stuff. She always just types her order and responses on her phone, and I feel bad that the burden is all on her and we don’t get to actually communicate further with her. So I’m trying to slowly learn more.
@kayde.xoxo. Жыл бұрын
@@savvysadistic7728I actually ended up taking some college classes on it! It has helped a lot and the experience with it makes me feel so much better about my ability to be more inclusive of people who use ASL as their communication! I am going to college to become a cosmetologist but specialize in accommodations for people with disabilities! Taking ASL classes has helped me a lot with learning about the history, culture and language a lot, I love it!

From what I’ve learned about asl to sign “what’s up?” like that is more something you use with established friendships. It’s an etiquette thing and considered almost improper to use with people you hardly know, you’d likely be better off with “nice to meet you.” early on.
