I heard them play in Franklin, TN around 10 years ago. Had to fly into Nashville from D.C.; but, boy was it worth it!!! They don't just keep Bob Wills Texas Swing alive; but, are actively contributing to it with original tunes as well. If you get the chance, go see them while Ray is still touring, and you'll definitely want them to "stay all night, stay a little longer"!!

I was able to see them play at Texas Stadium in the early 90's. They played before the Cutting horse event took place there. I drove 3 hours from Bossier City, Louisiana to see them. I was stationed at Barksdale AFB at the time. Here's the kicker. Garth Brooks also played there not too long before. I'd rather listen to this fine instrumentation than Garth Brooks.

Don't know the year but used to go the Longbranch Saloon in Berkeley to see Asleep back in the early seventies. Then during breaks in the show we'd head a few doors down to the Missouri Bar on San Pablo because the drinks were cheaper. Apparently even for the Band members cause that's where they went for their breaks

If that's Link back there on baritone, it's the classic lineup. Except for (and with no disrespect to Chris York) Scott Hennige on drums. Poor Scott, he was on those four or five great LPs and (like the rest of the Wheel) came away with a pittance compared to the gold with which they should have all been showered.

IS A FIDDLE THE SAME INSTRUMENT AS A VIOLIN?
@ranchleather14087 жыл бұрын
Same instrument, same tuning. Different playing style for different genres.
@Romans--bo7br6 жыл бұрын
Ron Roberts...... The terms "violin" and "fiddle" are used interchangeably, but there are actually a few differences to accommodate the music. A fiddle typically has a flatter bridge so that double stops and chords can be played more easily and it becomes more possible to play 3 notes at once. Fiddles also are usually strung with steel strings for sound and durability. Fiddlers generally use more rosin than traditional violinists. Realistically, you can say either one and it'll mean the same thing, but this is from a technical point of view. Hope this helps to answer your question, Ron.
