Great video, still watching. A nice tip along with the wavescan is that the wavescan is 24bit interpolation between each step giving thousands of waveforms inbetween each of the main 8 waveform steps. But a single knob can’t scan through that fine of a resolution without making your arm twist around till it falls off. So a fun way to get that smooth wavescan is to set a macro to wavescan but only give it a value of day 32 , then the full throw of the macro is scanning super smoothly through just a smaller section of your wavescan. Just lots of hidden depth :) . Really liking the format of this show. So many camera views!

the guy demonstrating is so excited, and im so excited watching this, i can absolutely see how this is all justified. Hydrasynth is the "next-gen" synth and IMO is a sleeper among the solely-analogue community

I’ve never used anything with as brilliant an interface for building complex patches as Hydrasynth. It’s a very digital sounding synth but it blends so well with DCO analogs like my Deepmind 12. My favorite thing in the synth world is building layered patches between the two - though I feel like I’m taking a big step backwards when programming DM, relative to the ease and fluidity of sound design on Hydrasynth.

got my desktop last week. had a few quick sessions to fiddle with presets and was very happy. the other evening i had nearly 2 hours to dig and and explore, and had something like a 4 voice multitimbral patch going with the amazing modulation possibilities available. absolutely love this synth, and i haven't even considered in depth about how i'll work it into my big ol euro setup. the fact that midi is available in the mod matrix opens up so many possibilities for sequencing with a simple keystep. its a beautifully designed synth and offers immediate gratification as well as untold gems with deeper exploration waiting for you.

*Great walkthrough!* The ARP Phrase demo is great, actually the phrase can be quantized by the Voice Scale as well, so you can easily vary it or match it to the piece you're working on. In fact you can now customize the panel button UP and LO part colors to your liking when it's in MULTI mode on the Deluxe.

Then stumbled upon this vid and you guys just proofed my thought. And gave me so much to dig deeper, wonderful presentation! And so far the best video ever for me, I love the love for the instrument in here, and when you guys try to resist of getting carried away. Well done! :)

I did watch the vid to the end and did really enjoy it, but i can't believe that in a demo of nearly an hour there's not one actual playable synth sound. I like a modulation noodlefest and/or sequencer exploration expedition as much as the next, but a showcase of the lead, bass, pad, stringy sound capabilities would be useful too. ;)

The step LFO function and being able to have each oscillator on it’s own LFO gets you very close to a Moog Subharmonicon in a way. Being able to use polyrhythms with pitches to create ever evolving chords or melodies. I have always wanted a Subharmonicon but never pulled the trigger. This seems even better! I’m beyond excited to get my Deluxe in next week!

The synth truly looks and sounds incredible.. but digital has been awesome for a long time. Virus synths were unashamedly digital and still sound awesome. D50? Then of course you've got things like serum which are clearly digital and sound very good when you want them to, but also can actually draw your own wave tables. The hydra is first synth on my shopping list for years. Everything else in hardware pales in comparison really now. I just pray it properly syncs up, which my Evolver, Blofeld, and virus all struggle with at times.

Question about the keybed - on the Korg Keystage, which uses the ASM keybed (at least the technology, if not the exact keybed), there is a warning that you can wear out something if you push too hard on the poly aftertouch. What's up with that? Is there a similar warning in the Hyrdasynth maunual?

The Hydrasynth definitely feels like a hybrid of past and future, agreed - although it's novel to have the 'mutants'. Note similar 'fast access' button structure to the Ensoniq ESQ-1, where you have those buttons to hop around the menu parameters. The Hydrasynth definitely pays homage to that!

I’ve owned a Q, but regret selling, I now have a quantum and string synth plus a hydra 8 voice, I can’t recommend this synth enough, it’s different to the Waldorf Q and Quantum however it’s got its own character and has been designed so very well, it’s not even expensive fir what you get. My only regret is that I haven’t got the deluxe. However I may do in future. The Hydrasynth is probably one of the best synths you could possibly get at the moment considering it’s price too. Endless possibilities, especially with the new OS no 2 update.

Hey Jens, I hope you've figured it out by now. If not, you have to press the LOWER or UPPER button and then the BROWSE button (it's on the left side of the big knob with which you change patches). Then you can change the patch for only that layer with that big knob.

@@jensingvordsen Sure, you can! Press the RIBBON button. Then the first encoder, you can change the mode to Mod Only. From there on you can assign it to every destination in the Mod Matrix. I actually bought a Hydrasynth Deluxe a few days ago again (it was on discount and I could not resist). I also own a Novation Summit. The Hydrasynth can sound great, however you need to work harder to get the sound you like. You can compare the Hydrasynth with those so-called healthy rice-wafels. The Summit is a rice-wafel covered in Caramel. It tastes delicious from the start, but it will always taste like caramel. The Hydrasynth is a blank rise-wafel but it comes with a lot additional flavours that you have to apply yourself. In other words you can make the Hydrasynth as tasty (or disgusting) as you want. Having said so, that Hydrasynth still misses some essential features to my opinion: - No support for sostenuto - No dotted timings in the arp - No true bi-trimbality on the Deluxe
@todd540 Жыл бұрын
Hello mate - interesting comment - downsized my studio and my Summit is my only hardware synth - torn between saving for a deluxe to complement it, or go for the Keyboard single version second hand and maybe a prophet Rev2 second hand. In fairness the dual arpeggios on the deluxe is really what’s appealing to me! Wonder if you think the deluxe is worth the extra over a single bed, if you could now choose again in retrospect?
@synthtitan9523 Жыл бұрын
After having both the Hydrasynth and the Summit now for some time (I returned the Hydrasynth earlier, but I realized that was big mistake so I bought it again), I must say I prefer the Hydrasynth now. Yes, the Summit provides instant gratification but the Hydrasynth is much more flexible. It takes some time to get the sound you want, but once you do you do not want one other synth again.

@Gear4musicSynthsTech2 жыл бұрын
The key is to remember that randomised sounds can just be a starting point, it's a synth, so you can sculpt the sound into something more interesting, but you'll be starting from somewhere very different than your basic 'init' sound!
@kingpinronin4301 Жыл бұрын
You can also randomise per parameter, instead of randomising a whole patch.

And you can always first press and hold SHIFT and then RANDOM. That way it chooses between two existing patches and usually gives me very nice results.

The deluxe probably has the noisiest key-action, I've ever heard on a synth. On top, couple of keys are real sticky, when coming up from an Aftertouch position. Not a key bed I would wanna play piano sounds on. And there I thought this would be "the one and only" for me. Another thing, that surprised me, was how little headroom it has, leading to some nasty clipping. Not going to listen to rave reviews on KZbin for a while!

It's only going to sound bad if they don't know what they are doing and it can sound bad even the random find good sounds bedside any one can destroy the sound pretty easily but it's also pretty easy to make out sounds great !
