To explain what happened at the end: Elden Beast is already loaded when Dist is up on that platform. He zips incredibly far away from Leyndell to unload the area, but Godfrey and Elden Beast stay loaded, and they start falling into the void. I don't quite remember exactly why he has to zip a certain distance away, but it causes Godfrey to die before Dist's character does. Godfrey falling for about 12 seconds activates a failsafe where anything that falls for that long just instantly dies, and him dying triggers the cutscene to start the second half of the fight, which instantly warps Dist back into the boss arena and prevents him from falling to his death. At the same time, Elden Beast also triggers that failsafe, beginning his death animation which plays out while the Hoarah Loux section of the fight starts. Dist obtains the Elden Remembrance, quits out of the game, and when he loads back in, the game places him back on the Stone Platform, because he just "killed" Elden Beast.

I like how in the lore Maliketh is feared by everyone including the demigods, and as of right now he's also the only boss you can't skip or cheese in this run. He still requires a lot of skill to beat. That's consistency.

We propably won't see any run with it for a while, he did macro segmented run yesterday with time of 6:38 I believe, so maybe we will see sub10 in upcoming week or so.

Some of the people there have a very good understanding of what is causing the glitches to happen, so they can predict the general areas where something could lead to a useful outcome. Then the masses of people just try and try until they find something that works. Then the best players will optimize that or find setups to make the "tricks" more consistent.

For those who wonder what happened at the end: He zip to the throne first to make the game load in Radagon and Godfrey. Then he did the mega zip, when he is so far away from Leyndell the game wont keep loading in the city, but since two bosses are there already they will both die to fall damage. Then the Godfrey P2 animation will bring him back where Elden beast spawns inside, but you fight It in a specific arena and that didn’t get loaded, so it will die to fall damage too. So he just have to survived Horah Loux for few seconds until Elden beast fall to death lol

What’s crazy to me is Distortion has beat the game normally more than most people. Done all remembrances. Has done a run only using the butt attack. And people complain that he does an any % (which the purpose is to beat the way as fast as possible any way). He does this with every soul’s game and does different types of speed runs. I mean IDK as someone who has done speedrunning before, the speedrun for this game honestly just looks super unfun. Going back to the menu to skip animations (because they track time poorly and don't count time in the menu), hard to pull off required tricks that skip 99% of the game (So every run feels luck-dependant on whether you get the tricks first try or not), not fighting a single boss (in the updated route mentioned in the description of the OG video, this is generally the best parts of the actual game for souls games) etc.

SummoningSalt, a KZbinr, has made some short documentaries on how speedruns have been made, their times lowered, the breakthroughs found. It's really interesting stuff, and it might give you some insight into why other people enjoy it.

For those that don't know. Ash of war damage barely scales with your actual stats or the weapons scaling 2 or 3% more. Your weapon upgrade is more important to the ash of war damage than anything else

He should watch the new OoT any% where you manipulate the game memory by using a second controller with the joysticks rubber banded to a specific angle then using the value from those angles to overwrite parts of the memory, skipping from the start of the game directly to the ending cutscene in 6 minutes and 50 seconds.

I agree that glitchless runs are often more entertaining content, but pushing for the fastest possible time you can get out of glitches and zips is its own kind of fun. That's why every game has different categories, so people can find a run they will enjoy.

Fire arrows allow you to reproc freeze over and over. If enemy is frozen, fire hour will cancel, then rinse repeat

Quitouts have a lot of different times when playing on pc because of how good/bad your pc is. So i beleave thats why it's not counted in overal time
