They give almost everything a 7 to avoid harming their chances of receiving future review copies and to continue gaining sponsors. This is why Ign can't be trusted most of the time, there's nothing genuine about them. They should ditch the scoring and go with the before you buy format. Just inform people of the game and if there's any technical issues rather than giving that pointless score at the end that they can't even be sincere about.

Star Wars is one of the richest and most expansive universes ever created, yet it remains surprisingly underexplored. The Clone Wars animated series has done more to deepen and enrich the Star Wars universe than everything Disney has released combined. There's a vast amount of storylines and lore that have yet to be fully explored. My friends and I have been playing Star Wars: Edge of the Empire (a Star Wars RPG dice game), and we’re having an incredible time diving into the galaxy, developing our characters, and navigating the many worlds, crime syndicates, factions, and species. Star Wars is truly massive, with decades of stories that deserve to be properly fleshed out and told. The issue is that our small group of nerds in a basement has managed to tell a more compelling story in our RPG sessions than anything we've seen released in the past decade. Just look at The Old Republic-one of the greatest RPGs ever made-as an example of what Star Wars could be. Is this new game terrible? No. But is it a disappointment for an open-world Star Wars smuggler story? Absolutely. The Star Wars universe has more potential than almost any other, and it deserves to be fully realized.

That sand worm is an LOD issue. Source: Am former QA and my wife still is. The head is the parent object and it moved off screen to the left. Once the head object was fully off screen the whole thing despawned to conserve processing power like everything else does in games and has for decades, but they failed to account for the body still being on screen which is the issue they made with their LOD system. The sand worm is being "culled". So the animation was certainly finished, as in the 3d model has a finished animation built into it, but it's not being rendered because the LOD system culled it. The reason it vanished is that the camera angle is activating an LOD bug that should have been fixed a month before launch or more. Either their QA team sucks and missed it, or their devs suck because they disregard QA's concerns. In 70%+ of AAA studios these days, it's the latter. The issue was found, the bug report was dropped, and the devs said "known, shippable."

Its a scummy tactic where devs will take a slice out of the game or create a totally separate scene or level from the game and polish it to perfection as a meams to misrepresent what the final product will look like. IGN gives SW: Outlaws a 7? The taxpayer-funded "Concord" was given a 7 by IGN. There has never been more than 700 players for that dumpster fire. Also, IGN gave BL: Wukong a meager score of 8. How is "Concord" and "BL: Wukong" only one point apart? Is '7' the lowest score and '8' the highest?

To be fair: Comparing complete different game genre does not make any sense. Concord is actually solid, but no one cares about it for a reason: We have enough comparable games that are F2P. About Wukong: 90% of steam reviews are Chinese (currently 578.000). I personally think it's a mediocre generic action combat game with some stunning art direction, but nothing more. We had hundreds of these games between 2010-2020, but we are so used to eat garbage nowadays that every proper game is overhyped. Like Asmon says: Just play something like Cyberpunk, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Last of Us etc. We had so much better games in story telling then we get currently.

Ubisoft is a big studio where the execs only care about money. It hasn’t been the same since Jade Raymond left. They had a team to go to France to take reference shots and build the city accurately for AC Unity. For Syndicate, they got one person and used procedural generation to create the buildings. They didn’t even fly her to London. They just gave her some photos and for some odd reason, they put this is their behind the scenes doco and made it sound like it was the best thing ever. No, it’s called being cheap. People complain so much about Black Myth having bugs but I haven’t played one Ubisoft game where I haven’t fallen through the world at some point.

The developers were so lazy that even though they didn't really have a whole lot of different colors in each scene it still was shaded poorly, had little details that shined, and the effects were choppy like explosions that ended with fun colored gas. It makes little to no sense how you put so little effort in the detail of your world and still have subpar mechanics. What a waste of potential.

"Cheap" seems to summarize it best. I feel like they did the bare minimum for core gameplay and just threw in additional stuff they could think off to check boxes. All of it has been done better before. - There are vehicles, but you can only use (a buggy) one and the rest is just scenery copied from the movies - There is a reputation system with these syndicates, but the choices are inconsequential and boil down to shop prices and area restrictions - That pet doing stuff for you is just a simplified version of Cyberpunk's hacking (which already felt pretty useless) or comparable mechanics of other games like Hitman - There is stealth, but the enemy AI is as stupid as it has been decades ago and does seem to work exactly like in Assassin's Creed - There is dogfighting, but as generic as it gets and seemingly a worse version of what we already have in Battlefront 2 - Gunfights appear to be the most generic Ive seen in years: you sit in cover and peak each enemy individually for a quick headshot or explosive barrel, a time slowdown here and there (simplified and unsatisfying compared to RDR2) - it looks like going loud in Hitman with the difference that this is supposed to be the main experience instead of its fleshed out stealth mechanics - Enemy variety appears to be minimal, worse than in Jedi Survivor, a linear semi-open-world with pretty much just two enemy factions and some wildlife - You can pick up guns of enemies, but pretty much have to dump them when you want to do anything else than shooting them - AC Black Flag gave you more options in 2013 - From what Ive seen, the open world feels pretty generic and boring, despite Star Wars as a setting providing Ubisoft with pretty much endless possibilities. I cant really judge that without playing it, but I bet, a stroll through some woods in RDR2 is more engaging than a walk through Outlaw's most populated areas The rating is a joke. Id say, even a 5/10 is still too high, considering price and potential.

If they did something like Star Wars Jedi, but more open world, and just let you explore ancient Jedi temple ruins, ancient Sith worlds, other ramifications of the "jedi" order, that don't follow the same code, and stuff like that, using the lore they have of the world, would be so much better, we don't even need to be a Jedi, there are tons of force sensitive users that are neither Jedi or Sith that they could've used. I can't believe how easy it is to make a good game in this franchise, and how bad they manage to do it.

It should not matter if it is 1 person or 50 people reviewing. Going off the established criteria should land them all within a very specific score with little to no variation. IGN does have such a scale, it is just way too broad. Here is their definition of a 7. "Playing a Good game is time well spent. Could it be better? Absolutely. Maybe it lacks ambition, has a few technical bumps in the road, or is too repetitive, but we came away from it happy nonetheless. We think you will, too." That is very broad. Those are all traits of a lackluster game. Not a good game. The last line is what gets them off the hook. We think....well, thoughts can be wrong so no big deal, right? Here is their definition of a 3. "You’re welcome. We just saved you from making a terrible mistake by buying this collection of poorly executed, bad, or unoriginal ideas - or even playing it for free. While even a Bad game generally has some bright spots, an Awful one is consistently unenjoyable." Listening to the reviewer speak about the game in the video, he describes a 3, but gives the game a 7. People have every right to not trust anything IGN says.

I'll repeat this until the sun burns cold - Ubisoft owns For Honor, a medieval combat simulator with one of the best 3D fighter mechanics I've ever seen. Ubisoft was given rights to a Star Wars game. There was no easier layup, no more obvious 2+2 formula for an amazing game than For Honor with Lightsabers. They even held a Star Wars Day event in For Honor where everyone's weapons glow and make lightsaber noises, and everybody LOVED it. And instead, when Ubisoft got a chance to make a Star Wars game, they gave us Outlaws. Unbelievable. For Honor with Lightsabers would have been a guaranteed success - For Honor came out in 2016, and it is still consistently played EVEN IN OCEANIC SERVERS. Despite it's many problems, it's still receiving seasonal updates, events, new characters, new cosmetics, and experimental gamemodes. Everyone in Ubisoft should be fired for not taking the easiest W in history.

I don't think there's anything fundamently wrong with the Scoundrel Power Fantasy IF done right. Lando and Solo are my fav character from the prequels. The problem is that Ubisoft just can't deliver it. The game is ugly asf and it seems like a mess in every other place.

Doesn't help that Jedi were sort of supposed to be the selling point of the universe so of course everything else would feel a little less interesting in comparison but then you look at Mandalorians, Clone Troopers, Chiss, Smugglers, Pilots, those weird Predator looking aliens in the novels before Disney bough SW. There was quite a lot of interesting aspects in Star Wars that weren't Jedi/Sith they had to fight for the recognition and really earn it but they got it but bit by bit Disney SW just chipped away at these things leading us to where we are today. :(

Cloud City from the collectors book released with special edition in 1998 talks about Cloud City's carbon freezer was used for tibanna gas which wasn't designed for living beings which was why there was a higher risk. Although carbon freezing a sentient being has risks so it doesn't surprise me bounty hunters freeze a dead or alive target.

FOR the cheese. In Wukong, the big headed boss baby that you fight early (technically 3rd boss or so BUT its optional whenever some times people go 2nd like you did), can be stunlocked the ENTIRE fight just by repeatedly using the "smash" strong attack without any charge. The exact stun timer is like .1 seconds longer than the animation and it keeps restunning him until he falls over. Here is the method. 1. Bonk him from "stealth" with a SUPER charged strong attack, mash strong attack until he falls over. Wait a second for stam, mash strong attack until he stands up, Use the immobilize spell. Light attack combo until you get the point, finish with a strong attack, Mash strong attack until he falls over.... Congrats. You now know the ENTIRE boss fight his him wailing like a big baby.

I've been ranting about the 0-10 rating really being scaled into a 5-10 rating in a lot of modern ratings. It makes no sense. According to these people a 7 is mid, a 8 is pretty good, a 9 is a lot of fun and a 10 is the best thing ever, everything below a 7 is bad and a 5 is the most terrible thing ever. A 5 has to be mid/decent for any of these ratings to make sense but people don't seem to understand that.

Those tries Disney made are more fan-based, promoting the elements from SW IP (Obi-won, Assoka etc.), to make those fans happy, but missing the points to make a good TV series which includes those elements. That's the expanding the IP I was talking about.

31:34 This really feels like an engine culling or depth buffer issue, this can occur when the active part of a model is out of the visual "cone" of the players view and is then culled from rendering to reduce load from rendering things the player can no longer see. In this instance I would say it was a bug with the engine not correctly keeping the model rendered because the active part of the model (for moving models this can either be the "head" or the central point in the model) disappears from the players FOV so the entire model is dumped, seeing how many bugs seem to be in this game, to me, this feels like a bug and unintentional. In most engines you can designate an asset as important enough in the rendering pipeline that it will not be unloaded from graphics memory regardless of its state in the object culling or depth buffer queues.

IGN Scaling: 5-The game is a 1-2 buggy mess. 6-The game is a playable but awful 3. 7-The game is a 4, wait to play for almost free. 8-Could be anywhere from 5-8 who really knows. It’s really a toss up. Watch a different review. 9-The game is probably a decent 7-8. 10-The game is an 8 or better and worth buying right away.

IGN 8-10 means: ask a human about it. That human can be your fav content creator or the steam friend who buys anything anyway. Never trust a proven cheater blindly.

So all these bad elements yet they still gave it a 7 lol. It’s like those rotten tomato critics that are like this is the worst movie ever and then give it a fresh rating simply because it’s Disney. I guarantee you if this didn’t have the Star Wars name attached to it and it had a male lead instead of a female IGN would’ve given it a 5. So pretend it’s the same game replace the woman with a man replace the name Star Wars with something else they would’ve given it a 5 lol. This is why nobody trusts these urinalists and corpo critics anymore. I am really glad corporate critics, urinalysis and outlets are slowly becoming more and more irrelevant.

This is what happened. Ubisoft paid too much to Disney for the Star Wars license. And then had a strapped budget to slap the game together.

The sandworm did not despawn, it got culled by the algorithm that decides what you can see from your pov and what it doesn't need to render. It's a common issue if the culling data of a model isn't precise or there's something wrong with the culling settings, some things disappear, toggle in and out of existence even when you can still see them in your fov. Considering it was recorded on PS5, they perhaps tried to squeeze a few more FPS's out of the machine by setting the culling as close to the borders of your fov as possible, and that's why sometimes the corners of some objects stick out into your fov when being culled.

Dude, in my opinion, the worm shouldn't even have to despawn, with the graphics that game has, there is no excuse to not just have the worm fully rendered even below ground, shows how badly optimized that game is, that they need to despawn the worm. Considering it's on a PS5, that can handlt Horizon Forbidden West, GoW Ragnarock, Ghost of Tsushima or even Demon Souls Remake, this should be easily handled if made correctly.

"Reheated" is the best word to describe this game. It's like leftovers in the fridge. Maybe not terrible but nothing about it is as good as something else.
