The biggest problem with hardcore players is that they don't take their life seriously. They should pretty much be roleplaying as frodo who just left the shore(edit- shire rather)and everything is dangerous. Calculate every mob encounter as if you were thinking about fighting the mob in real life. I have no sympathy for someone with autowalk on while alt tabbing that gets killed by a guard. I wouldn't be running down the road in real life with my eyes closed while trying to figure something out

Nobody did anything on purpose (griefing). The warlock just paniced and instead of doing damage he was just running around in circles until he decided to heartstone out. What actually happened was that shaman totems pulled four elite Myrmadon guards that appear outside the boss arena when you pull Herod.

if you want your dps to hit any sort of meaningful parses in classic, you basically have to tank without a shield and/or with leather pieces on, but 1st clears in hardcore probably isn't the place for that lol. I get it though, since good dps makes the fight 10x easier b/c healers arent going oom. If he weapon swapped a shield on as he was going to zerker stance to zerker rage the fear (you could do this w/ shields in vanilla), he prob wouldn't have died though. If you wanna do pro gamer shit you have to go all the way with it lol, but tanking without a shield isn't really as ridiculous as it first seems (this is only if the tank is actually geared though, if not, you wouldn't be rage starved enough to justify it and will just die)

This whole Fury-Prot stuff was so stupid through classic. It was introduced by a guy who knew what he was doing (he outgeared the content he used it on) but was adapted by so many players who just thought tanking dual wield is great, not knowing anything about the math behind it (like basics of attack tables). The only encounter I remember where it shined was Vaelastrasz due to aggro problems. Anything else went perfectly with deep prot shield tanks. Also: getting Warrior call on Nef and not instantly switching to a shield displays a lot of incompetence. While we did use some Fury-Prots, we forced them to switch to shield when they got a good amount of aggro. There is no reason to get from 200% to 300% while burning through your healers mana.

You alway spec fury/prot to tank, more threat lets dps do more damage, so fights are shorter giving less chance for fuckups or healers going oom. You do need defensive gear though, a good tank knows when to put on more dps or more defense gear. A deep prot warrior with defensive gear will lose aggro to wand dps.

The only way to this being correct is if you outgear the content you do (leading to rage starvation), which is pecisely what I stated before: The Fury Prot was introduced for exactly that scenario when you try doing speedruns. Going into high tier content does hit hard, even if you are deep prot with defensive gear. The question you have to ask yourself is: What do you expect of a tank? Do you need them to do like 200% agro of the highest DPS or do you need them to live for 5 seconds when shit hits the fan and a healer dies for some reason? Also, WoW relies on not too hard to understand math. Yet, most fury prot warriors I encountered never understood even the slightest about hit tables and how it can fuck you over if you do not wear a shield and / or use shield block correctly. The clip does show ecaxtly that. A fury prot warrior, going into berserker stance on warrior call, parryhasting the boss with dual wield attacks, eating crushings and crits. Let me guess: Bad healers?

The Nef tank should have gone GSSP as soon as Nef dropped. Then went SnS, and Last Stand because it was warrior call. You're taking 50% more damage than you're used to, losing the 10% from D-stance, gaining 10% more damage taken from zerker and a further 30% from the call itself. Good on the second tank to be second threat, have shield ready and pop GSSP right away. He even ignored the call to go on the adds which is what you need your 2nd threat to do for this very reason.

BWL -> Tanking Nefarian without a shield during Warrior class call is 100% his fault. Especially at his gear level. Its far more important then the Stoneshield potion. Many Tanks have no clue what a shield really does aside from block chance&armor increase.

Crit and crushing blow do respectively 200% and 150% damage of a normal boss auto attack, so it is a sure way to remove big spikes of damage that can happen very quickly.

It allows you to use the skill "shield block" which increases your chances to block by 75% for two attacks (with a 5 second cooldown on the skill). The way the hit table works in wow means that a warrior with shield block up can never be critted or crushed unless the boss attacks faster than one attack every 2.5 seconds which is usually bosses with an enrage mechanic (chromaggus, huhuran, patchwerk, gluth, magmadar). This bozo wouldn't have died if he knew how to actually tank.

In short. - you have a higher hit chance + lower attack speed -> less chance to get parry hasted by the enemy. - Allows you to use shield block talent. This prevents Crits and crushing blows and also reduces the damage consitend during the fight. - default block value already decreases the chance to get hit by Crits and crushing blows. And yeah, on top of this you have the armor increase-> further damage reduction. This guy wouldn't have died, if he used a shield. Because he wouln't get parry hasted two times in a row together with crits/crushing blows. The healers did their job right. So it was 100% his own fault.

The epic shild would give like 2.5k armor, enables blocking, enables using shiled block skill which overall reduce surviving chance way more than a stoneshiled potion. I suppose I already had all the tank stuff out of MC and the best out of all the dungeons, as did the healers, but I was never a big potion user. I was probably a rank 1.5 tank, I hit a wall with the Bug Trio in AQ40, I just couldn't keep threat on those for some reason and I lost my raid spot. Probably these Hardcorders are doing these raids way undergeared. But duel wielding a raid boss outside of defensive stance IN hardcore just sounds insane to me!

If you die as a tank when you don't have a shield equipped it is one hundred percent your fault. Just because streamers tank without shields, it doesn't mean that you can. Streamers have so many requests from healers that they get to be very picky which ones join them. The healers hard carry them so they can play whatever off meta or wonky build and they still blow through content.
