The saddest part is those of us who played Diablo and Diablo 2 had always asked for “Diablo-like” games and used that term without sarcasm. Then Diablo 3, 4, Immortal happened. When we found POE we hoped that Blizzard would come back to glory and see this as a challenge to improve. We wanted to have Diablo-like games back. POE has done that. It is now Exile/Path-like. The only thing that I mourn is the world building of Diablo l & ll. I so enjoyed to be a hero fighting alongside fantasy Angel warriors against wicked Demonic forces lead by the three Prime Evils. Just calling him Diablo Lord of Terror gave me righteous goosebumps. Such a damn shame that Blizzard destroyed such an awesome world. I hope that PoE2 will have an epic story. But for MAC you have to through shitload of multiple extra hoops to make it work on MAC. Which is why most developers don't want to make games for MAC anymore. It's not worth the effort. Especially since MAC hardware is not made for gaming anyway, so less sales.

I’ve been waiting since shortly after D4 launch for POE2. I tried switching to POE then. It was obvious it was something I could enjoy, but I just felt like I was too late to the party if that makes sense. After several conversations with POE players nearly every single 1 of them suggested I would probably be happier waiting for POE2 simply because I was going to be behind the power curve on a decade of experience in the game that I didn’t have & I appreciated that feedback. The thing that’s funny about Rob Ferguson’s comment is he’s new to Diablo, he’s not one of the guys that created the series at Blizzard North, he’s just some guy that joined Blizzard at the start of 2000 and is like: Hey, maybe Diablo-like should be a term. The thing is, there’s been a term for games that play like Diablo since Diablo first came out, it’s Hack and Slash. Before people started using the more broad Action Role Playing Game label for Diablo they used the more defined sub genre label of Hack and Slash...Diablo was a Hack and Slash game, and when some new game came along on PC like Nox it was called a Hack and Slash because of its similarities to Diablo.

@@jonathanchristo9138 there wasn’t much competition in the MMORPG market to begin with.. you had Ultima Online, Anarchy Online, Project Entropia, EverQuest, Asherons Call, Eve Online and Star Wars Galaxies and that was mainly it.. Warcraft had a large fan base though from the 3 previous Warcraft games, Warcraft 1 and 2 would be simple to make by todays standards but they story, the characters and the lore is what people gathered around and got it a massive following. Pre WoW most MMOs were buggy messes.. WoW was very polished and very U.I. friendly which helped a lot.

Maybe now Blizzard will give us what we always wanted: keep the Diablo 2R gameplay, graphics, mechanics, and pull in the D3 rifts & D4 caves. D3+ will never compete with the joy one gets from playing D2, so just own it. And what ever happened to the "arcade D2"? that special Tristram event that took place in Diablo 3? That version was also pretty fun.

So funny thing about the 'not enough endgame content' comment. I played PoE at launch, and really enjoyed it. I got through... the second difficulty level I think? Then I drifted away and was doing other stuff. I picked it back up not quite a month ago in preparation for PoE2, and discovered that they'd added acts 5-10 while I'd been away, and a ton more endgame stuff. Cool. I think I'll finish up act 10 tonight, so tomorrow take a look at endgame, then Friday PoE2. That's okay, I'm not upset about that. Looks like PoE2 fixes the few problems I had with 1.

Like many, the hype for D3 was brutal. Even bought collector's edition. Needles to say, I have never played D4. PoE2 is what I thought D3 would be, I'm ready.

I guess action RPG means different things to different people because that game looks like Diablo to me and I associate action RPGs with stuff like Kingdom Hearts and NieR. Basically an action game with levels and stats

You remember when first-person shooters were called "Doom Clones"? It wasn't even the first one in the genre, but it was the one everybody remembered and the name, whether said in respect or jealousy, grew organically. So of course the Blizzard guy going "can we normalize..." is going to be received poorly, as anything associated with that abominable phrase should.

People had enough when they chose the Spirit born over The Paladin! A Class that should have been in the base diablo 4 game.....But that is just the pinnacle of the iceberg! I uninstalled Diablo 4 the moment they said that the Paladin doesn't fit the DLC theme with a Jungle, Zakarum, Akarat and Mephisto! All of those things are directly related to the Paladin class!

You know when a manager writes something like that it means there is a big problem. I played Diablo 4 - 3 4 5 6 seasons hoping that they would fix the open world and pvp add an auction and normal endgame how wrong I was. I played poe 1 about poe 2 everything is clear

I've been playing D4 forbthe last week while waiting for POE 2. The Barbarian is by far the most fun ive had using melee in an ARPG, the moves looks epic and the combinations are awesome. Just wanna state for any haters I am team POE all day, but D4s barbarian is GOATED as far as "fun" is concerned lol.

I started playing the first PoE a few days ago and I've enjoyed it so far. If there were more time I would want to play it all the way through, but I think I'll have to switch over to PoE2 right away.

The only true Diablo experience you can have nowadays is Project Diablo II, it's amazing what just a few hardcore fans can make and maintain for us to enjoy but yeah, of course I'll be playing POE2 as well.

They used to be called "Diablo clones", seems like people are misunderstanding what he's saying, "Diablo like" wouldn't apply to being compared to Diablo 4, but the first Diablo, that started it. It's even a reasonable suggestion, really, i've tried looking for them on Steam this year, it's bothersome, Action RPG has so much in it, that isn't a "top down RNG looter", and the only option you get, is to go through them one at a time.

I'm with Asmon on this, people overreacted to Rod's tweet. Pretty benign, not like he was being toxic or anything, just a little out of touch maybe. Compared to how people usually act in these situations, especially lately, it was really tame.
