And what's so funny is that Torghast was supposed to be WoW's copy of Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High. WoW players HATE Torghast, yet when they come to FFXIV and try PotD and HoH, they fall in love. They're all the same. The difference is, Torghast was mandatory. PotD and HoH are just there if you want to try for some cool mounts and achievements.

That really sucks, because I think Torghast and a lot of things like Islands and Warfronts, Garrisons as player housing, etc were good. It's just the combination of tying them into borrowed power systems for the expansion, forcing people to farm them on Activision's schedule and not as the player wants to at their own pace, and then abandoning them... that turns good content and features into trash. It took SE 3 times to make "exploration content" work, Diadem, Diadem again, and then Eureka. They didn't throw away the idea, they fixed it.

@@Siegram999 Palace and Heaven have never been mandatory. You never had to interact with it. Now Palace has a bit of story tied to it that finishes off the Tam-Tara Deepcroft storyline that started in the normal dungeon and continued through to the Hard mode. And they pop up as an option to do for a sticker for the Wonderous Tales. But again, you can easily avoid doing them and still get enough stickers.

oh the way he does Ads is obviously heavily inspired by Internet Historian. To the point where I almost feel like it's too close to the IH formula. Probably trying out stuff, and will probably find his own tone later on. But the raid shadow ad in this video was basically 90% ripped from IH ad clips. Pints editing is great, and humor as well. He is most likely a big fan of IH, and wanted to try that comedic approach to ads. All he needs to do now, is make them more unique to himself. Rather than just IH adclones.

@2:00 Getting the "Honorable Kills as a Winter Helper" achievement in WoW started me on Gnomes and Lalafells. And I quickly realized that having a readily available source of cute emotes was like the digital equivalent of petting a cat. Relaxing and reduces stress, which is what games should do. Especially online multiplayer games where people do things which make you want to strangle them. And then you're like "But what if I did /toast instead?" and you feel a bit of that urge to Life Grip people off platforms lessen.

I’m lucky enough to have gotten house. I spent like 60 hours in a course of several days camping plots alone with competition . With no luck. Coming from Aion, small characters were the top choice because of the PvP benefits: smaller hitboxes, harder to track animations, and it gave the feeling to the player that your character is moving much faster and jumping much higher making combat much more engaging and fast paced.

at 8:50, also a reason why you didn't mind it much is because alot of the annoying delivery go A go B go C quests that were filler in the story, were removed. Making the story a bit more condensed and stitched together. Many people that say "You gonna hate it" had the experience of all these fillerquest that do not actually have any weight to the story. they have polished the exerpience a good bit. To me the story was alright, with a few really good moments like the Waking Sands visit by the Garleans and the end was super good! Many also do not like Stormblood, I think it was alright with equally many 'low moments' but a few really fun ones.

The people that say ARR is bad are probably veterans, because it used to be a lot worse. 1. There was no flying in ARR areas prior to 5.3, now you unlock flying after completing the 2.0 MSQ 2. Pray Return to the Waking sands - You didn't get handed tickets to teleport back to Vesper Bay, and without flying, all the times you have to return here was a painful waste of time 3. I didn't get into the game until SHB, but from what I heard, there used to be a lot more useless filler in the ARR MSQ that has been removed over the years As I joined in 5.1 I experienced the first two, and yeah it made the post 2.0 stuff really, really tedious. I've done MSQ on a few alts post 5.3 though, and it's a lot easier.

ARR is perfectly fine and better quality than the plot of any other MMO I've played. It might not have aged very well and more recent content has made use of the lessons learned by the dev team in ARR, but saying ARR's plot is bad does it a disservice.

ARR is fantastic and not even that slow. I've been doing every dungeon and trial that pops up, getting multiple jobs to 50, maxing the beast tribe reputations, completing the hunting logs etc. and really taking my time with everything and I'm close to finishing the post-ARR stuff and starting HW. You could probably do it in less that 50.

Funny story, I did actually just walk up to my house and buy it. Crossed my fingers and prayed to the RNG gods I would make it in after maintenance ended first, and got lucky.

I had to stop and take a break from FF14, because I had pretty much done all the different end game things, dungeons, raids, fates, interior decorating, dancing, even became a well known bard on my server with hundreds of people saying hi when i logged in, also got into the night club scene. Luckily I decided to do the MSQ as soon as its drops therefore giving me the option to do the rest more casually afterwards. Houses are a real issue like, its best to get into a syndicate with the housing, so you have both buying power and time in order to suceed. His enslaving as he puts it is just a house buying syndicate, we have done this many many times, with shifts set up within the group, we had three groups of bards taking 8 hour shifts each to entertain the people, yes we really did this... Now we have several houses of every size to use for our little community, throwing raves, parties, Live DJ's, role playing nights, we even have a small group of erp'er who use the houses so they have a safe place to do it without exposing anyone else to their actions, they even had me design the three houses used for it, have a nature inspired house for it, a dark dungeon and a sci-fi inspired house so we have most bases covered for their erp. The nightclubs where my favourite to design though, getting to use the lighting and surface reflections for maximum effect, and some of the things your able to create in the ff14 housing system are just incredible, especially the ability to hide certain things such as seats within other things, so we can have hot tubs with actual seating around the edge so people can dangle their legs into the water without the need of the third party sitting mods that can get you into trouble if caught using by a snitch. And then we have the emote modding community.... oh now here things can get crazy. Ive had times playing this game where the community driven content would mean i had not done actual game content for months, and the game still did not get boring or feel it as lacking things to do, something that wow stuggles with, i fell ff14 just does content that can help drive community created things much much better than almost all other mmo games out there.

That housing standard deviation curve is highly inaccurate. They cut off anything before a certain time, anything after a certain time to force the data into a bell curve, which is why it's completely flat on the tails. The data is also reliant on people running through and checking all the houses, meaning that the windows that they actually open isnt accurate either. I never finished a realm reborn because the story wasn't catching, it's story writing 101. It was constant back tracking, literally constant! Bailed out on FFXIV after reaching level 34-ish. Worst mmo-rpg experience I've had in years. The "social" experience all these "streamers" talk about.. yeah they're not there. Just like in wow they're reserved to exclusive guilds with their own group of friends and hardly ever are open to outsiders. A "streamer" however will be taken to and through pretty much anything based on their "e-status". Simps carrying chimps.

The over-all game play and monotonous questing were. repetition in mmorpg's are normal. but in FFXIV you're forced to ride a theme park rollercoaster on a set track. And you're being sent back and forth to talk with npc a,b,c,d and back again. I prefer mmo's that grant you freedom without any restriction from the get go. ESO is a narrative heavy mmorpg with several main stories but all can be played on your own terms without forcing you to do them in a specific order to unlock further content.

I still can't help but get the feeling that you believe you've experienced the pinnacle of what the game has to offer, and have this strange notion that the game is somewhat overrated, when you haven't even come _close._ You do understand that the raids, trials, quests, literally _everything_ gets like... 16 times better than it is right now, where you're at in Heavensward... over the course of the next couple expansions, right? You're still playing 8-year-old content. Just wait and see, Zack. You're going to be kicking yourself for putting it off for so long. You're missing out on some of the best PvE content in MMORPG history, and it's all just a few days of MSQ grinding away. You also haven't even experienced Hunt Trains, S-Ranks, World Fates, or any of the incredibly fun and challenging zones like Eureka, Zadnor, and Bozja.

Worth noting, everyone saying Eureka is dead is super wrong. There's a consistent population of 15-20, and on weekend instances fill up with 30-40 people. It might've died for a while but I think new players are revitalizing it.

Videos like these by Pint, Krucial or e.g. WoW videos like by UberDanger and Barney, are the reason why the community and great content outside from the initial game are so god damn important for a games success and in order to create and maintain a healthy community. I bet, there are tens of thousands of people who wanna give FF a chance, just by watching this god damn piece of entertainment by Pint, which yet again proves that the community and thus players, are stronger than the devs. Yeah sure, the company creates the game and the content, but the community decides whether something fails or thrives :)
