I’ve been traditional WetShaving for about 6 years now and it’s a hobby for me now, I’m all up in the fourms, Facebook groups etc, there is surprisingly a big community of people who like to do things the old fashioned way. I use fountain pens, shave with vintage Gillette safety razors, straight razors, roll my own cigarettes, use a zippo lighter, shine my own shoes, it’s awesome. You get the best shaves too. I definitely fell down the rabbit hole. I have so many classic and artisan shave soaps, SilverTip badger brushes, safety razors, vintage Dubl Duck and J.A Henckel’s straight razors that I hone myself on Japanese whetstones. Something that used to be looked apon as a chore, we now very much look forward to. It’s our ZEN moment of the day when we can just put on that Frank Sinatra Pandora channel and just make believe your in the 1950’s 🎶 💈😁🤙🏻💈 I used to think you were a snobby douche bag that is a know it all and was a fake rich guy but my perception of you changed. Just because I grew up differently than you doesn’t mean I’m tougher than you. Nor does that mean that your of higher class than me. It’s all about how you treat others and what kinds of morals and values they represent in their day to day interactions with people. I’m a fan 🤵🏻♂️ 👏🏻 The older I get I’m starting to buy less Jordan’s and more Allen Edmonds #PinkyUp 🧐

Same here. Writing with one of my 20 or so fountain pens, driving my nearly 30 years old car, shaving with a proper razor, using pre-shave cream, proper shaving soap, good aftershave. It´s my little escape from the usual allday stuff. Something to remember the gold, old times.

Even when compared to a safety razor?
@NiclasGudmundsson2 жыл бұрын
@@kirbyallison I think the safetyrazors can be good, but they are so sharp that they can be very harsh on the skin. A well honed razor is a joy to use. But its not only the shaving part, its the whole ritual with shower, preparation of the skin and the shave. Then its perhaps a touch up of missed spots and then the aftershave balm and the scent you would go for that particular day.

It’s unfortunate that the only place I found a wet shave with a straight razor was in Mexico when I went a few years back. I've had 3 wet shaves in my life, all because I wanted to experience at least 1..so it was on my bucket list and I found 3 places that did them in my area. Now I'm growing my beard again (the first one took off the 5 year beard I had) and I think the closest I'll get to a wet shave is one that's just for touch ups and shaping as I rather like how I look with a beard...also it seems like a thing I'm inclined to do...my dad has a small beard/goatee thing going on, my little brother is similar and me..I'm just letting it go and see how long it will grow down..don't know if I'll get a "Gandalf" length but I'm wanting to see lol. Shaves for me are now more about keeping it lined up and my cheeks free of hair as I have some wild hairs that grow fairly high up my cheek bones. Also getting a wet shave is rather pricey at times due to the lack of places that actually do it around where I live..and one uses a gel instead of shaving cream so out of the 3, I only really count 2 of them.

After my third major stroke, my doctor (upon seeing me in hospital bed shaving by "Braille", without a mirror) with a semi-paralyzed right arm and hand, forbid me from using the straight edge.
