As a Dutch person, this gives me a lot of tingles. Please do more Dutch videos:)

Knowing German and English, every time I try to learn Dutch my brain looks at the words and goes 'easy. this is like German, that is like English...' and as soon as I close the book I have no recollection of the Dutch language ;-) Will try again with your video - bonus challenge: stay awake! Thanks for the video!!!

Ikr everything seems so obvious when you see the words spelled out, but maybe there is such a thing as too familiar? Plus I definitely wouldn't be able to learn both Dutch and Norwegian at the same time, they're so close, they'd just cancel each other out 😅 You're most welcome!!

I was reading somewhere the other day that Dutch and German have an 80% Lexical similarity, it's the grammar that are much different and that's where things get complicated. I don't speak either though so I can't really talk haha. Wonderful video I'm really enjoying all of your stuff!!

Yeah, they diverged pretty late as languages. Spoken Dutch and Low German are basically a dialect continuum across the border (or used to be, I guess dialects don't fare well on either side), but for me both are difficult to understand haha. I'm very happy you liked it! Thank you for your lovely comments 💜

That was cool! Dutch diphthongs such as “ui” or “ei” are notoriously hard to pronounce.

Thank you! Dutch definitely has some tricky bits, I think especially for native German speakers - it looks more familiar than it is.

German and Dutch are very similair, the main difference being that German sounds either like a military commander or very poetic and Dutch sounds like you're eating gravel. -Groeten uit Nederland
