Was diagnosed when I was a child "Overcame the disorder" (according to my doctor) at the start of high school, I'm at the point I don't need to take them (the medication) and they say I don't have it anymore (ADHD) but I feel like the tendencies are still there like sometimes I still fidget or I'm not focusing properly or cant focus at all really which gets in the way of my schooling heavily which is why I have a 504 plan because I'm a bit slower at doing things than others also focusing is usually out of the question

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid. While I was able to cope with it during school, I feel it has come back in the workplace. I find myself getting distracted if something is really boring and then realize I have a lot of work to do still. Then I get upset when I get a phone call while I am working on something important. I work nights with one other person. I have come to realize that I am not good at “multitasking” unless it’s doing the same kind of job like rebuilding computers at the same time.
@BrianTBooher Жыл бұрын
About 6 years ago I came down with a big case of depression. I have come to realize that it was caused by the fact that I went to a new company and the amount of work I had to do was a lot less than my previous job. At my previous job, I had a boss that was always breathing down my neck. I had to stay busy so he wouldn’t complain. If I knew a job was done, he wanted me to go check over and over and over. I was involved in clearing out an office space. I went to each desk and made sure it was totally empty, but that was never good enough for my boss. When I went to the new job, the low amount of work really brought out the anxiety in me because I still had that feeling that there was something more I should be doing. Eventually I was able to get over the anxiety and depression with some medication and getting used to the job, but boy was that a scary time.

Ok the part at 5:50 pretty much sums up how my brain works. I identify with a lot of these traits but that one is a doozy. I think that’s what leads people to doubt that ADHD is an issue if they only see the crazy energised hard working part and not the struggle to start things that you know need to get done.

I hesitate to get a diagnosis because I don’t want to start thinking I can lean on having adhd as an excuse. Also the idea of going to get tested and not knowing if I’m going to cheat the test because I know the signs. I also don’t want any professional thinking I’m trying to get medication to abuse it, that’s a big one. I went to the doctor for a checkup one day and didn’t mention that I pulled my back that morning in the shower, I could still get up and drive to the appointment so I hid the pain I was in, the next day it was disabling and I couldn’t walk for over a week. I called her to ask if I could come in for it and I could tell she thought I was lying over the phone.

Lol, not me getting distracted and going off on a thought tangent about how I need to get assessed for ADHD IRL and then missing half the video. I do have it - I was diagnosed with it (and autism) as a kid in the UK. But I live in America now and, while my US therapist agrees that I have it, I need a new assessment, here in the States, in order to get medication. One of my favourite things about ASMR is just having them on in the background while I do stuff on my phone, so I don't need to really pay attention. But I wanted to pay attention to this one. And I failed. Boo. ("I'm so poor I can't even pay attention" may be a joke, but it 100% applies to me lol).
