According to a bard I spoke to, "the Hero is jacked. Not only that, they wear the freshest clothes, eat at the chillest restaurants, and hang out with the hottest dudes". Perhaps the Hero has some sort of elemental resistances?

Plot twist: the reason why the Minion is so competent is because he's actually the Hero in disguise. The capture of the Hero was just a ploy for the Minion to gain the favor of the Demon Lord.

I developed the perspective partway through that we aren’t just minion of the year, we’re the hero/an ally to the hero who is bewildered by this ceremony because we’ve been terrible at hiding who we are and yet. Miraculously, really, no one thinks a thing because we luckily always get away with whatever’s going on ( similarly to how the hero always escapes. ) Needless to say, I was laughing a lot by the end of this
