I’m learning Japanese, and to my surprise I recognized some words, and were able to translate the small ones! Unfortunately I am not at the stage to where I can translate everything, but hopefully one day I will be able to translate to whole thing.

The timing of the topic is so funny. I am currently learning german sign language at university and I just used your sentences, translated them to german and then tried to apply them to german sign language. Surprisingly I could mostly sign those sentences although I'm only studying for 1 week.

I rembember you saying in one of your videos that japanese is a great language for asmr because it's built of a lot of open syllabes. You can hear it in this video and combined with your voice and personality makes the language so relaxing 😴🌛

First off, I love this and hope you do more English/Nihongo videos. Second off, I wish you well with your modelling career. Third off, and least importantly, I think if there is a difference between bunny and rabbit it's that bunny can also refer to hares, whereas rabbit cannot.

Does Tanuki actually translate into raccoon? Because it was my understanding that Tanuki was referring to an animal unique to japan that looks like a raccoon but is closer to a dog. Suppose even if it doesn't refer to a raccoon what else would you say if there isn't a word for a raccoon? Might as well be Tanuki. Love your videos, they always bring a light to my day.
@Adam-nl4ot

I was curious and google called them "Japanese raccoon dogs" and that there's another "raccoon dog" also in East Asia but they're the only 2 of the species
@ThornHailsnap
@ThornHailsnap 10 ай бұрын
Tanuki translates into "raccoon dog", which is very apt because it's literally a dog that looks like a raccoon. The actual Japanese word for raccoon is "araiguma".

Me in America had the same thing with Christmas starting on November 1st! Everyone kept talking about how "Christmas starts today" and then I kept getting ads for Christmas-y stuff. I told them I disagreed with them, and it's pretty much an even split in terms of Christmas starting now vs. later.
@ThornHailsnap
@ThornHailsnap 10 ай бұрын
Where I live, Christmas merch starts showing up before Halloween. The ads don't start until at least early - mid November, but you can buy Christmas stuff sometimes as early as September. There should be a law or something against that.

Based solely on the fact that this is a Japanese/English listening practice video, I feel like a lot of English speakers here have watched the Spy Family Sub over the dub, am I right? The dub looks solid but I do enjoy the "wakuwaku"
@fahrenheit2101
@fahrenheit2101 10 ай бұрын
I usually only watch stuff subbed, but I feel like even dub viewers have to be aware of わくわく! As for holiday season, its pretty common in a lot of places to start the Christmas hype early af If companies can trick people into getting hyped over a longer period, they make a lot more sales Thanksgiving probably plays into it too - since I'm not from America, we obviously skip over Thanksgiving.
@ThornHailsnap
@ThornHailsnap 10 ай бұрын
I'm not from America either but we do have Thanksgiving. But we celebrate it much earlier and it's considered less of a big deal and more of a day to just get together and eat turkey or ham.
