I’ve just warped up my table loom and I’m doing a super easy pattern which only requires two levels to be moved each time, so I’m starting to feel the rhythm of a floor loom and it’s so relaxing!

Solitude from the hustle and bustle of the world, rhythm of the loom imitates one's life within the threads of life and our desire. On a different outcome of life, I'm in the planning stages of designing a 24 shaft draw loom, I have no clue or choice, building it in the 2'6" weaving width, wish me luck ! I value your advice 🤓.

I noticed you don't worry about your edges like you do with the rigid heddle. Can you explain why? I know nothing about floor looming and just a bit about RHL but am curious about why.

Yes, it's a different approach. The tension on a floor loom is very good. You can shoot the boat shuttle across and the edges generally take care of themselves - depending on the weave structure, yarn etc. Different types of boat shuttles will give a different experience too, here I'm using a regular boat shuttle that feeds the yarn out of the middle, so the draw in is a little more because there is more tension on the weft as it feeds out. I have an end feed shuttle that feeds out more generously and therefore is even better for the edges. But that shuttle is busy with another project 😊
