I love these videos! Not only great for relaxation, but you have some really good book recommendations! Books and ASMR are my favorite combination. Please keep these librarian videos coming!

I LOVE this library series! As a side note I live in the eastern United States and we call them eucalyptus. I had no idea that a gum tree was the same thing! I remember the children's ditty "kookaburra sits in the Old gum tree" but never knew it was the same thing.
@FantasyASMR8 жыл бұрын
+Mortessa Laugh, kookaburra, laugh / kookaburra, gay your life must be! ❤ That's great to know! I did have a suspicion that only we call them gum trees. I'm not sure why. This book was so enlightening, though; it opened my eyes to the many hundreds of eucalypts I was looking at every day and not noticing. So fascinating.

Because of this video series I specifically went out and bought Clan of the Cave Bear and The Secret History (the latter I finished in two days, it was so good!!) and I definitely have a bunch more on my list. I love the relaxation and future reading excitement that this series gives ☺️

"It's like The Da Vinci Code but with substance" - *OOOOOOOHHHHHHH!* Somebody get Dan Brown some sunscreen and cocoa butter for that burn! :') George Eliot might have had a point... I had to read Emma in school, I remember being really unimpressed with it. I had problems empathising with the characters, mainly because I kept thinking "oh boo hoo, it must have been *so hard* living the life of the landed gentry". That picnic up Boxhill seemed to go on for weeks :( Thanks for this video, I love your library series (and all your videos), it seriously brightens my day when I see a new upload

+hknuddv Totally - Emma is probably the least sympathetic of all of Austen's characters. And the most annoying. I mean, in general if you're kind of allergic to the struggles of rich people, Austen might be a hard pill to swallow, but at least her other books the heroines are actually quite poor despite their social status, which makes their situation interesting enough to write about. Emma is just.... ugh. Yeah.
@GiordanoBruno428 жыл бұрын
FantasyASMR I haven't read it in about 10 years so I'm probably exaggerating how bad it was :P I liked her other novels more for sure :) I'm not totally allergic to the struggles of rich people, but I tend to find it a little harder to empathise. That probably says a lot more about me and my biases than it does about the quality of the writing though, so it's swings and roundabouts!

I really enjoy your librarian role plays. Your voice is music to my ears :) and the way you chose to explain every book, very well thought out to use the full spectrum of your voice. I turn to your channel quite a lot. You really have a distinct voice for ASMR. Cheers from North America!

I am so glad you generously share yourself with the ASMR community. You are a treasure. I have been a whisper fan since 2009 before the term ASMR was coined. Your voice is lovely and soothing. Your book selections are so well thought out and compel one to seek them out. I am a retiree and love to read. Do you have any favorite Australia based films that you could recommend?
@FantasyASMR8 жыл бұрын
+mstartine13 Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. I'm very glad to keep you entertained and/or relaxed! Hmm favourite Australian films. Well, the best Aussie films of the last twenty years would have to be "Two Hands" (Heath Ledger's breakout role; sort of a modern gangsta film set in Sydney) and "Shine" which was Geoffrey Rush's breakout role. There's also "Muriel's Wedding" which was Toni Colette's hilarious breakout role, "Lantana" (starring Anthony Lapaglia) which is a quietly spooky domestic thriller based on an excellent play, "The Castle" which is a classic Australian comedy, and "Pawno" which was only just released so you may have some trouble finding it, but is definitely worth a look. I actually think we're better at short form comedy rather than film here in Aus, probably owing to a woefully underfunded film industry. Maybe I'll do a video on that!

Yay Aussies! You could do a segment on Tim Winton books, he has his own interesting writing style and he primarily writes books set in Australia! Loved this video, it's lovely to see somebody sharing our literature around, as you said, nobody hears much about it, maybe because we're so far away. Thank you 💞
@FantasyASMR8 жыл бұрын
+Kaitlin Johnson Tim Winton's possibly our most internationally successful author, which is pretty rad considering he writes about a part of Australia most Aussies aren't even interested in. My dad is from WA though, so there's a nice connnection there :)

perhaps this has already been asked of you, and if so, i apologize... however, are you familiar with the novel CANDY by Luke Davies (a novelist from Australia)? it is not for the faint of heart or the casual reader, but is a fantastic story of drug-addicted, star-crossed lovers, and is one of the most haunting and thought-provoking works I've ever read. it was also adapted into a fantastic film starring Abbie Cornish and Heath Ledger, both of whom (I don't need to tell you) are also country-kin to you. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy:_A_Novel_of_Love_and_Addiction
@FantasyASMR8 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, indeedy! But I haven't read it or even seen the film, which now that I think about it is kind of a mystery because I love both Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish! Should probably rectify this! Thanks for the suggestion xx
