This was very comforting to hear. I am a caretaker for my mom and feel very alone sometimes because most people don’t talk about what they are going through. The fact that she is willing to let go is so huge. Sending good thoughts to you during this transition.

Hi Stephanie, I’ve been very fortunate that my mom has been so compliant. I know that isn’t always the case with the elderly. And it CAN be a lonely thing. Please make sure to get some respite care so that you can take care of you! Sending hugs, Jeannie

As a history lover, this was absolutely delightful. My mom used to collect old magazines as I was growing up and I loved flipping through them, even though she'd snap at me not to smudge or tear anything, haha. I always thought Life magazine was great. Wonderful to see one from 1902, wow. I just love it! I hope you'll make more of these flip through videos and I hope you'll get many more subscribers!

Glad you enjoyed it! I wonder if someday OUR magazines will be this interesting to someone. I think about all the magazines I throw out...hmmm. But I certainly don't want to store them! I am still sorting all my mom's stuff here (and trying to find safe places for things!) SO much to go through, but there are some more magazines, so I'll definitely do more of these flip throughs! Thanks for your comment, Katerina! Welcome! XO Jeannie

I know this video is 5 months old now, but I just want to say after watching the intro, I admire the help and care you give your mother. I lost my mom the day before I turned 12, and that was over 10 years ago now. Navigating life without her has been a very lonely journey, so definitely cherish that time you have with her! I wasn't mature enough to do so properly as a child, and sort of ignored her condition and buried down my feelings, and in turn didn't appreciate that time out of fear. Not wanting to admit she was sick and isolating myself so it hurt less. You have blessed my recommended a couple of weeks ago and your motherly wisdom makes me really emotional, and it is something I've been missing my whole life. I wish you and your family so much health and good fortune ❤

Nice to see you enjoy a collection of the "golden age" of magazines. Many years ago, I purchased (at auction) an entire "leather bound by year" circa 1950 to 1960 collection of Harper's Bazaar from the estate of the late, great Agnes de Mille. A number of famous Avedon photographs from certain editions were used in the Hepburn/Astaire musical "Funny Face". I also have the entire first decade of Life magazine including the first issue ever published. They're wonderful time capsules of history.

Your voice is so comforting and nurturing. It reminds me of those quiet winter nights whisper chatting with my mom to keep the noise down in the house. Also, I would totally wear those shoes in that older listing.

Love that you ride horses! I was a professional equine massage therapist and avid equestrian up until we moved a couple of years ago. I miss riding. It's nice that your mom moved in with you. I know that was probably a challenging adjustment for both you and your mom. My mom had my grandma move in with her, but sadly mom passed away unexpectedly from very aggressive cancer less than a year after Grandma moved in. Grandma also passed away several months later. I miss having those women in my life, especially my beautiful mom who I was especially close to. I've enjoyed hearing you reminisce about growing up in the 70s via all the magazines. It kind of makes me feel like I'm listening to my mom talk about her life growing up then too. I wish I had talked to her more about her childhood/teen years. Thank you for your channel! ♥️

Thank you so much for this! What a special post. How sad about your mom and grandma. My horses had massage therapy and acupuncture! It was awesome, especially for my older mare. What a fantastic profession!

More of these please!! Magazine flip throughs are the best asmr in my opinion. KZbin suggested this video to me and now I can't get enough of your channel, but so far this is my favorite. 😍

Just discovered you today and you have such a graceful, genteel aura about you that I had to comment. You actually remind me of an old, classic Hollywood star (I wouldn't be surprised if you were one!) with such elegance and a maternal element that is comforting in the purest way. You are truly beautiful.

bless the algorithm for showing me this incredible asmrtist today. 💜 gonna sleep well later edit: i got too excited and didn’t finish my comment lol. this reminds me so much of when i was a kid in the early 2000s, my grandma would flip through her magazines and coffee table books with me and read them and point things out. she did this up until i was 8 and was more than able to read them myself and i would’ve been mortified if my siblings saw and called me a baby, but the flipping of the pages and her voice was so soothing and whenever i was over her house i’d beg her to “show me your magazines” lol. this reminds me so much of those afternoons and i love it.
