I miss Iwata. There’s a lot that can be rightly criticized about Nintendo, including their work culture (lots of crunch time as I understand it) but the thing that sticks out to me is how when the 3DS was failing (as funny as it seems in hindsight, the 3DS wasn’t a big success at first)he took a huge pay cut rather than have employees fired. Think about that. A CEO taking a pay cut. So they didn’t have to fire anybody! Most CEOs would rather gnaw their own arms off. Think about Blizzard firing 200 people a couple of years ago when they were having record profits. I mean, let’s not make any mistake, he was still making millions even with the pay cut. But it says something about him.

It's different for everyone, but I get it more from general/organic sounds - not people whispering in 3D or tapping their nails on a book, etc. I could happily watch my neighbour gently clean their windows for an hour, but a dedicated hour-long ASMR video will rarely do anything for me.

I still remember the day when i first unboxed my Nintendo Wii (which i still have till this day) 12 years ago, if you'd ever got that sense of appreciation towards things, it's surprising how this could get you immersed to those moments, where you unbox something and then you feel the box, the plastic and all of that, there's a sort of feeling on that.

The core of the switch screams Iwata but I think omce he passed Nintendo lost some of its charm - they got rid of miis, there’s no menu music, the UI isn’t as well thought out or designed, and there aren’t any of the gimmicks we’ve come to expect from Nintendo. If he were around for the last stages of switch development he would have pushed for more than this.

I remember the exact feeling of peeling back the wrapping of the unit and gamepad! I remember being so happy that Christmas. There's really a special feeling that comes with unboxing a Nintendo console for Christmas I feel. I own many retro and newer consoles and the Nintendo ones always garnered the most excitement for me during the holidays. The Wii U was a great console that really didn't get the recognition it deserved. It has a really great library of games. I actually had a lot of fun watching this one! Even if it didn't make me fall asleep, it was still worth it! RIP Iwata. We gamers really appreciate your dedication to your work!

RIP Iwata, the WiiU was the ultimate stepping stone to Switch, and as a Nintendo Loyalist, I miss this man. Thankful Reggie is still kicking it, but I miss the Iwata and Reggie interactions at E3.

He truly loved games. Above all else, he was a gamer and great game maker.

Rest in peace Iwata. :( You were truly one of the best CEOs ever and I don't think nintendo will ever get a better man for the job.

I like that on the boxes on wiis and Wii U's plus there games you can see like the little text that says PAL JPN and so on. The region the console is supposed to operate in. It's just such a little detail it makes me feel good.

In hindsight, the Wii U was not a bad console, it just had really bad marketing
