To be able to work with such knowledgeable people and work with such exquisite kimono must have been a dream. I have always loved the traditions surrounding kimono and the different types of kimono that should be worn for what occasion. I have always thought that kimono worn for weddings are so beautiful. The stitching that is used to make one is an art in itself.

I agree! A "trying on kimono" asmr video would be great! If you had that lady's voice explaining it as the other ladies helped the person into them. Nice and slow and lots of straightening the fabric slowly (of course), then just kinda "twicking" (My own word here lol) it into place, lots of little adjustments...(sigh)... it would be great! Oh when she spoke about sharing and respecting other cultures while mentioning Sébastien Chabal and the French embassy, it was so sweet. Japan and France have always shared a respectful and historical interest in each other culture, language and history, and particularly for each other's craftsmanship and skills. I love this.

And rightfully so! What I really love about both the French and the Japanese is that there is ample space in each culture to slow down for a moment to appreciate something beautiful, even if that beauty is ephemeral. I work with French pastry often and when I pull a puff pastry dessert out of the oven and it is golden, buttery, and perfectly laminated (which is always difficult and has come more easily only after hundreds of failures) I think, 'what an immense amount of effort for something that will be chewed up and swallowed in 2 - 3 minutes.' But, that only adds to the beauty of it. The concept of the Zen garden in Japan is the same. It takes hours and hours to make those incredible patterns in the sand, just to enjoy it for a moment before the wind or the rain comes and blows it away. These gorgeous Kimonos will only be worn a few times for a few hours over the course of a person's life, but they are worth the time and the effort.

This reminds me of my former sensei. I used to take Japanese classes at university and when our course came to an end we got a present for our sensei. In turn she invited the whole class (about 10 people at the time) out for lunch and the girls were additionally invited to come to her house and try on some kimono. It was one of the best days of my life since I had always admired the elegance and beauty of kimono and had always wanted to try one on. I neither have a great figure nor do I feel pretty, but I really raveled in childish delight when trying on my sensei's kimonos. It was an amazing experience I will never forget. I hope that one day I will get to visit Japan, wear a beautiful kimono and go to a festival. You look so beautiful in each kimono, I am happy for you that you got to experience that ^^

I was blessed to study abroad in Japan for a year and wear kimonos a few times and a hakama for my graduation ceremony, I'll never forget the feeling... I cried the first time.
