Whenever I take a personality test I’m always not sure of the results because what if I was answering who I want to be or who I think I am and not who I actually am???

Mauve ASMR It’s not necessarily that I don’t know what I should answer, it’s more so a doubt that I don’t actually know what I’m like. Or, to put it in your words, I don’t observe myself how I actually am. Sort of like how each person is biased against themselves because they are themselves, and even if you try to give an unbiased opinion or view of yourself I think there will always be something that obscures the view of yourself from how it actually is. Then again, the only person who really knows a person is themselves, perhaps. But this makes less sense the more I talk about it. 😂 I’m overthinking it.

@@ryushinawa you may not be overthinking it. Everything you just said made a ton of sense to me. The way my brain works is that when I take these tests, a whole bunch of potential answers occur simultaneously in my mind to each question, each probably for valid reasons, and it can be difficult to analyze the reason for the different answers to determine which reasons are right for the situation. There is no "first answer" or "single gut instinct" for me - there's just an onslaught of information. If I force myself to stop thinking and yell out an answer, I typically find that I just say what other people have always told me I am, which I've internalized - and a lot of that is way off from who I am inside. If I want to arrive at any answer at all (and avoid regurgitating unreliable surface-level feedback from others), I have to do what people then call "overthinking." So personally I think people who say that may just have brains that function differently from mine.

When I answered the test I just answered how I acted in public or at school or whatever. I didn’t answer with how hyper I get with friends or family. I got INTJ three times in a row so I guess that’s what I am lol.

Where did you get the information on ideal matches? I’m curious because I’ve never seen mbti compatibility listed like that, I’ve always read about the “natural partners” or ideal pairings being combinations such as ENTP with INFJ, or ESTJ with ISFP. This is my first time seeing pairings like this.

Nina M It's all about cognitives functions. ENXP = dom Ne, INXJ = dom Ni. If you want to learn more about that, check the cognitives functions (i'm french so it's gonna be hard to explain it in english... sorry :( )

I love these videos of yours and I really appreciate the effort you put into them, however I found this one to be a little incorrect regarding the compatibilities. For example, INFP and ENFJ are an absolute ideal match whereas here you only labeled them as compatible. Same goes for INTP and ENTJ and unfortunately many more. I have complete understanding for the mistakes as I can imagine that this must be exhausting to do and memorize. It’s just a heads up though.

That's fair! It's hard to look at MBTI interpersonally imo so I brought a little socionics into it and ranked matches for each type with complementary matches the best, then identical, then quasi-identical, with quasi-complementary being the worst.

Curious what this is based on? My understanding is the complete opposite, for example estp and infj are ideal matches for infps because our functions are always looking for the opposite functions fe, ni, se, ti. whereas a relationship between an infp and estj can work but in my mind can also be a really difficult relationship.

@@MauveASMR Interesting, I keep hearing that your type never changes, which I instinctively don't buy and it puts me off a bit from Meyers-Briggs. It feels to me like different functions/functional stacks and traits are things that I almost unconsciously experiment with a lot in myself, and it feels like the totality of what makes me fundamentally me has evolved plenty over the past ten or fifteen years. You're the first person I've heard validate the idea that this is possible, though. Can you say more about it?

Emily Butterfield your personality may change, your mbti personality type doesn’t. you are born with it like you are born with a certain eye color (for example), your eyes may change throughout time but their main features never change. the reason why we get different test results it’s because online tests are not accurate, that doesn’t mean, however, that the theory is invalid. if you want to get correctly typed, you should get someone to type you (and when I say someone, I mean someone else, because believe it or not we have quite terrible understanding of ourselves).

@@vicentarodrigues1107 I can certainly believe we have very flawed understandings of ourselves. We're in us - so we're way too close to see so many things. I also think everyone else will be too far away to see a lot of things too, so an openly listening partnership between oneself and someone else seems like the way to go in terms of determining type. Also, I agree with you about tests. I think some people/personalities don't "test well," if you will, and I wasn't suggesting that the success of testing reflects the validity of the theories.
