For anyone who never got this exam...the first time might be weird BUT i promise it goes so much smoother if you relax and focus on your breathing. Tools might look scary but as long as you're calm and distracting yourself (so you're not tense) it will feel a bit weird but not painful, and also it goes by so fast. I hope this helps, love you

I haven’t gotten the exam yet but my doctor did take a look down there and it was super weird. I didn’t know what to do😭So I played with my rings and held my breath. Thank you for the advice! I’ll keep this in mind when the time comes ✨

It's just that I'm already 23 and I haven't as in EVER went to an obgyn and im really curious what happens after the exam. :(((

in my experience, I've never received my results in the office. Mostly because the tests take time to run and get the results! I've always received a phone call or the results were uploaded to the patient portal online that many doctors have now. I think that's pretty standard in America but I'm not sure about other countries.

In my expirence they call you if there is something wrong in your exam. If there is everything ok, they just give the results in the next appointment.

Coming back to say that after refusing to do one for awhile I finally got my first pap smear and now I feel silly because I was so scared but it didn't hurt at all! So of anyone here is scared about getting theirs done and needs someone in the same boat who had a good experience, at least try it once if you're comfortable. You might end up surprised like me
