Santa Claus Before the invention of paper, ink, brushes, and the like, the oldest Chinese characters were often etched into hard surfaces such as bamboo, bone, shells, etc. (I think even metals such as bronze?). It was much easier and neater to approximate a circle that way

As a Chinese I am amazed by their complicated writing way. That was unbelievable that you needed to spend even a minute to write a word whose meaning is very simple in the ancient Japan. And I think that is the reason why Japanese alphabets are so simple now.They have tried there best to make Chinese characters become simpler and some our local characters we use now are from Japan. That really makes me feel the cultural connection of China and Japan. Hope you can produce more videos about Chinese characters and I will support you!頑張って!

Every Kanji are actually very easy. The more complicated ones contains always other less complicated kanji. So if you know the meaning of the smaller ones, you can make up a story in Order to remember the completed one.

Circles were dropped due to changing writing utensil and medium after the 1st century when paper was adopted. Previous characters were often casted on metal wares and were more discernable with curves instead of straight strokes.
