I have lots of family that live in the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia and West Virginia, and my family and I used to go up there all the time to visit when I was younger, so I have plenty of stories of creepy things that have happened up in the mountains. I can't speak for other people's experiences regarding the whole covering your windows thing, but I can tell you my own! When I was about 12 years old my family and I were staying at my Great Grandmother's house up in a wooded area in the mountains while visiting family. She had warned everyone about keeping the curtains shut after dark, but refused to tell us why, just telling us to keep them shut. I decided to not follow her advice because I wanted to be able to see the moon and stars as I fell asleep that night and was feeling a little rebellious. I woke up from a dead sleep late that night and had the sudden feeling that I was being watched by something and that it was outside the window. Naturally I expected to look over and see either a person or perhaps a large animal, but what I actually saw was completely unexpected and absolutely horrifying (not that a person peeking in the window would have heen better though...). I looked over and saw a shadow figure staring at me through the window; it was solid black with small eyes that seemed to glow white in the darkness, but no other visible features besides it being vaguely shaped like a grown man. I screamed and sat on the bed staring at it as it stared back at me, completely unmoving. My mom came rushing in to see what was wrong, and she saw it as well before quickly shutting the blinds and the curtains. We sat together until morning as my mom tried to console me because I was so terrified and didn't know what that thing was or why it was looking at me through the window. When we asked my Great Grandmother about it in the morning she scolded me for not listening to her warning, before telling us what we had seen; she told us that the forest she lived in, and possibly that entire mountain, was haunted. It was incredibly common for people in that area to witness shadow figures in the woods both at night and even during the day as well, especially if they were alone. Apparently it was common for these spirits, or whatever they were, to emerge from the forest at night and peek through any open or uncovered windows, and this was something that all of her neighbors had experienced as well. Allegedly they also would try to lure people into the forest, especially children or vulnerable people, usually by mimicking voices of loved ones, although I never experienced that myself luckily. There were other times during my childhood that my family and I stayed at that house overnight, but I never disobeyed my Great Grandmother again and always left the windows covered in fear of seeing those shadow figures again. The Appalachian Mountains have so much rich history and lore ranging from spirits, cryptids, and even true crime and even aliens as well. If you ask someone from that area if they have a creepy story to share, they definitely have at least one that they can tell you. Maybe you could make a video covering some of the creepiest stories from Appalachia, either by reading other people's stories, or by researching some very well documented cases from that area and sharing them with us?

I'm from the Southern Appalachian mountains. My family has lived there for 200 years. I havent heard anybody say to close the blinds or curtains at night. Maybe it's a new legend getting started.

I heard a story like you were talking about someone coming up on a vehicle in a desolate area, but they were on foot. By the time it occurred to him that he needed to leave, he heard angry arguing voices. He barely ducked out of sight at first and saw men with shovels. The guys somehow realized someone was/had just been there. As they started looking, he wasn't able to sneak away very far without being heard, stepping on crackling sticks etc. He ended up running through rough terrain, stumbling and hurting himself, not knowing where to go for like 15 minutes with them chasing him. Just as he was about to collapse, lungs and muscles burning, he saw a place to duck under until they gave up. Having no clue where he was, he was lucky to find a stream to follow. By the time he found a road/path with people to get help, the guys were gone leaving no sign behind. I can't remember if he was able to get the plates to report, but he never heard whether there was a body found or if anything came of it.

The story "Bizarre Accident" sounds a bit suspect you me. Why wouldn't the despatcher simply press the mute button while talking to her supervisor? The author of that story probably did witness something but added the whole police despatcher convo to make it more mysterious 😂
