I really like how you cover yourself up with the towels much more than necessary even though it takes away a lot from the treatment experience. So much of ASMR these days has people purposely being sexual for clicks and trying to appeal to weirdos who watch the videos for any reason other than tingles/relaxing, so it's nice to see someone who actually just cares about the quality of the content. Thank you for everything you do!

Showing skin doesn't necessarily mean sexual. It's weirdos that think like this. Esp about female bodies, which are oversexualized that they "have to" cover up more than men. 😊

I found it very interesting that she said "even Korean speaking people" because I know the history between Korea and Japan is very complicated. My first year at university, my roommate was an exchange student from Osaka. It turned out she was actually Korean but both of her parents were born in Korea and came to Japan as young children with their parents (her grandparents). She had a Japanese name and only knew the Japanese language. She didn't know her Korean name until she was older and when she got her passport, it was Korean and she had to sign her Korean name (thankfully she could do that with Chinese characters).

There were quite a few Korean war refugees. In Osaka, there were also significant migrants/refugees from Jeju island after the massacre by South Korean forces. Nowadays, South Koreans make up about a third of all foreign tourists in Japan.

I have a question for your Twix-san! From all your experience at Spas in Japan, do you think that being plus-size would interfere with body massages or spa experiences? I am going to visit Japan later in the year for the first time and am a plus size girl. I am wondering if there are any cultural or technical barriers when it comes to this. Thank you in advance!
@TooStinkinFine

That’s an interesting point. They all seem so tiny in Japan, I wonder if plus size ladies like many of us would be at a disadvantage. Thanks for asking an important question, Brianne S.
@asmrtwix
@asmrtwix Жыл бұрын
Great question, thank you! I have thought about it tbh and tried to imagine how it would be. Size of the bed is standart on most of the places. I'm 60kg, 172cm, so you can maybe compare/imagine would you feel comfortable or not, to lie down. For the facial sessions, I think size doesn't matter. Maybe for the body massages, you would want to book longer course to let your masseuse to stimulate and massage the full body several times like they usually do. I'm 100% sure body size won't take away anything and won't keep you to avoid to try these amazing places!
@kamuigrey4597

Perhaps it'd be best if you contact them personally to ask; as it would depend on the bed clearance and the kind of treatment you're going to get.
@suburbanbanshee

Some older Japanese women are very plump and short, so I imagine plus size alone is not a problem. If the spa accepts men, there will be bigger and longer massage tables. So that would probably deal with Western women being taller or heavier. Calling ahead or checking websites would probably help.
@alexduarte1260
@alexduarte1260 Жыл бұрын
Not every body in Japan is tiny. They have the sumo wrestlers that are bigger than plus size and I bet they get some kinda sports massage therapy. If Sumos can get massage therapy in Japan, I'm pretty sure the tiny plus size women, compared to them can be accommodated.

I have been watching for awhile and I love the phrase just before the session starts "please take care of me". I understand that you would say that but I find it both interesting and wonderful that the esthetician also says it. I was wondering why and if it is an older tradition or something newer? Is this said in other situations? I wish I could experience any or all of these spa's!!!
@kevinboklao7808
@kevinboklao7808 Жыл бұрын
Rather than an old tradition, it’s a common translation of the common phrase よろしくお願いします(yoroshiku onegai shimasu). It’s used in basically all situations where you’re either working with someone, someone is giving you a service, etc. From a customer standpoint it’s like “please take care of me” or “I’m in your care” but for the worker it’s more like “I look forward to working with you.” All that being said, there’s no direct translation to English since English doesn’t have the same culture as Japan
