I have an Asparagus fern that is over 80 years old. It belonged to my Grandmother and I am 79 years old. Can I claim a record? UPDATE. Although not looking it’s best still alive. Now 81. 2.10.24.

@colinc.8742 woww! Im super interested because I just bought one and I cant wait to see how it looks throughout the years when it grows. It doesn't seem possible to share pictures in the comments though If you can either post a video on your chanel or let me know on what media services you wouldn't mind connecting and sending a picture, it would be perfect😊 i would comment my account and then delete it

Really like the ease of this plant! I also have mine in a bathroom. It has an east facing window that is shaded by a tree outside. Its pulled back from the window on a counter and is still happy there. Love it 😊

I love these plants too. Even though, we moved and our bathroom doesn't have a window any more, but it feels perfectly fine in the living room, 2m away from the window

I’ve had great luck growing these outdoors in a pot or the ground with morning sun. They’re so happy 🌱 It’s a wonderful plant here in zone 8 for three seasons and comes back after Winter.

I can not get it in Australia , I asked where you live for that reason , I absolutely love them
@AnnasViolets Жыл бұрын
I live in Germany. You can find them easily in Europe
@mak7587 Жыл бұрын
They don’t sell them in Australia because they consider it a toxic weed that can overtake your garden, so, just ask friends or family if they have it growing in their back yard, Maybe you can put a message out on Facebook, I’m sure someone will contact you, but if not just keep asking until you hit the jackpot. What state in Australia are from?

What if ti has yellow and brown leaves at the same time ?
@AnnasViolets2 жыл бұрын
Then definitely the conditions are not what the plant needs. Try maybe to change its place
@HJT134 Жыл бұрын
Do you water the soil until overflow or just wet the surface? Roughly how often?
@AnnasViolets Жыл бұрын
I water it so much that the water goes out of the drainage holes. The soil stays slightly moist, but not soggy wet. In winter, it can be once a week, in summer every day. It really depends in which conditions your plant is growing. There is no schedule.

Hi may i know if we can grow this Asparagus fern in water?

@@AnnasViolets Thanks for the update. I saw your terrarium plants but not sure if it was an open or a close concept.
@AnnasViolets2 жыл бұрын
It is closed, but I open it sometimes to air it out. Especially in the beginning, I check the condensation on the glass. If it's too much, I leave the cover open for a couple of hours, until it comes to a balance, where it's not too wet and not too dry, and there is this natural cycle, where the condensation gets back into the soil and there is no need to water it

Hello, I have a question, can I use growlight (like artificial led lights special for plants) directly on it ? Or better not ?
@AnnasViolets2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can, but keeping the right distance is very important. If the light is too close, the leaves can be burnt. These plants don't need bright light anyway. They grow well in semi-shade. Unless it's very dark and you feel that it's growing leggy or losing the leaves, maybe it's worth trying the growlight
@olgaorlova12852 жыл бұрын
@@AnnasViolets they started turning yellow , so I watched one video where it's said it needs more light so I bought this lamp but then I watched your video and you mentioned the vent and it's standing right above the vent so I moved to to the bathroom for some time

what kind of soil is good for the plant
@AnnasViolets2 жыл бұрын
It needs well-drained, even sandy soil, and will not grow well in extremely acidic soil

@@AnnasViolets thank you, mine is almost dead, I had it in the volcanic soil and it molded after two years. I am going to try it in the sandy no acid soil next time. :-)

@@jwsc9578 I think it will be much better. But maybe you can still save this one? Repot and put it in a small greenhouse, jar, terrarium for extra humidity?
@KatieDe_G2 жыл бұрын
What percent humidity do you think? 70% or higher? Thanks!

Hi Kate, yes I think 70 is already pretty good. Otherwise, there may be mold, especially if the air ventilation in the room is not good

We have a huge one on our landing inside and it has two or three super long vines reaching nearly all the way downstairs but has no leaves on the vines, why is this and how do I get leaves on the vines? :)
@AnnasViolets3 жыл бұрын
Hey, I think it will grow leaves when it finds a support. I think for these plants it may be the same as for hoyas. They grow vines, but leaves appear only when they find something to climb on

I have a few questions and I need help . Is it ok I keep it inside my room but with light goes inside my room in the morning and afternoon? And night time I use Ikea white light . Is it ok keep it inside the room with air conditioner on ?
@AnnasViolets3 жыл бұрын
Hi Benny, good questions. :) The sunlight in the morning is usually not strong, so it will be absolutely fine. Depending on your area, the light in the afternoon can be very bright. You need to feel it and move the plant, if needed. As for the night light, I don't use any special light. And they don't like cold currents of air, so I think air-conditioner can be harmful. ☘️ Hope these tips help

I hope it's not touching cold glass of the window. They like to be in a warm place. Spraying is very often not helping enough, as it is a very short-term solution. Have you tried a humidifier?
