This made me feel happy. I followed your advice and took more time, and did something that wasn't studying tonight. Because I was in such a good mood after this I decided to sit down at my piano and try to play, which I haven't done in a long while. It was nice and the hesitant music lifted my spirits, just like the ocean did for you. Thank you for making stuff that lifts spirits. Oh, and I hope Travel Dan will return to instagram for your next holiday. Can't wait! #bethechangeyouwanttobe

I’ve turned myself into a morning person. My 3 tips are: 1. Drink water around 8 and you’ll be busting in the morning so you literally HAVE to get out of bed to be comfortable again. Old friend Bart Simpson gave me this idea when he wanted to spot Santa. 2. Sleep in a place with plenty of natural light. Some shit about it hitting your retinas and telling your brain to wake up and not be drowsy 3. I hate myself for saying it but that feeling of being tired all the time? ...exercise gets rid of it. Like proper raise your heart rate/have a good stretch exercise.

I've been rewatching/re-listening to your Aspects videos as I make chicken noodle soup from scratch on a Monday afternoon because why the fuck not, and maybe part of its the sunshine, and maybe part of it's the half bottle of wine I've had to drink, but listening to this I just felt a sudden feeling of 'it's all going to be okay, really, maybe not all the time, but it will be sometimes and that's good enough' roll over me. It's been a rough day and half in my brain spaces, and this video honestly helped so much. Thank you for sharing this video with us, and more importantly thank you for sharing these pieces of you with us!

For some reason this video made me cry. Especially the part where you were talking about the sea, and the joy you felt for being on it. And I'm just so overwhelmed (in a bad way) with all the stuff I have to do this year, and all the expectation people have on me right now, right when I don't have any. I just wish I could get the hell away from everything for a week and just, as my fav song at the moment, "Birds" by Thomas sanders says, "watch the birds go by" and be alone and "free" for a while. Thanks for this video, Dan. It really made me remember that I'm not a superhero, and that it's okay to need a moment for yourself. Definitely planing a little trip to the nearest resort for July, I just hope I feel the same joy and freeness you felt when I'm on it. :) lots of love xx

I relate so much to this video. And I can't thank you enough. The messed up sleeping pattern, being a night owl but annoyed that you miss the day - it's been my life since uni. The bit about letting your worries go when you went into the sea also felt familiar. When I went on holiday a few years back during quite possibly the most difficult part of my life, me and a friend would wade out and just end up having big emotional talks, and the hypothetical weight I would feel lift off me when I left the sea was unimaginable. Honestly so grateful for the fact that I get to watch your videos. X

I always like how these videos, unlike PMS always seem like something very much created for you and not us. It's a glimpse into your life at that moment and you put in as much of the happy moments as you can but the talk of problems and the... complex? I think that's the best way of describing it, smile at the end, speaks of things that only you need to remember, or need to reflect on. I loved this video, I'm glad your escape put things in perspective :)

"Surrounded by people who need things from you and expect things from you, it can be a lot." That really resonated with me. I think that feeling of being overwhelmed is pretty universal, but damn do I FEEL YOU right now. I work an intense full-time job and am raising an almost-3-year-old. And let me tell you, either of those things on their own is A LOT. Life, man. Vacations are great. Take them often. Thanks for your videos, I always look forward to watching when I see them in my subscriptions.

I've only made it to day two in the video so far but I had to stop and laugh because I'm knitting while watching and I was NOT expecting knitting to pop up on the screen on this channel! Also, as someone who dealt with chronic insomnia as a teenager (and who had a computer in my bedroom...) and is still a night owl by nature, I can say that as an adult, curbing evening screen time in the past few years has made a huge positive improvement for me when it comes to getting to sleep earlier. I have filters on my devices to cut out the blue light in the evening, but also just shutting everything down by like 10pm - closing the laptop, putting my phone away - that helps an unbelievable amount.

Do you know what my favourite part of these vlogs are? It's that moment when I see you've uploaded, like, don't get me wrong I enjoy them immensely but I go online and I see the new video and I think to myself, wow Daniel managed to have at least a day to go about and edit this, a good day when he got his act together under the pressure of what uploading constantly must be like. Like you cannot imagine how much strength that alone gives me. Everyone can go ahead and shove motivational quotes up their ass, I'd pick your Jennifer Aniston rant anyday to make myself get out of my bed.

Why is this so weird? I'm just having a deja vu, but not a normal one. It was exactly the part when you were on the beach and asked what would the others do if a giant figure came out of the water. But it's not that type of a deja vu that I've "experienced" seeing this video, it's just as if it was only the audio while I was on a walk in the forest. Kind of complicated to explain but I'm genuinely mindblown! I've never experienced anything like that. A great video tho, Dan! And definitely relatable, in many ways (especially with working/doing stuff until 2 am (it's actually 2:22 rn over here)). You're a great youtuber, and I'm hoping for the best for you and the future of the channel! You've got this!

Just for the conclusion itself This might be my favorite video of yours I don't know if this is kind of mean but for me, it's sort of cathartic watching other people struggle with the things I struggle but not at the same level (I'm not in the creative world yet) And I get the urge to do something out of thin air I used to go to a near forest, to a patch surrounded by tall trees and just stand there, breathe for a little bit and then, keep on with my walk

Dude. Very nice video. This one more than usually makes me think about my life and how I live it. I was also attempting to change myself from a night owl to a morning person, although for medical reasons. It's true that some days are more difficult than other days. I can reccomend doing active stuff, preferably outdoors in the morning, your body clock will set earlier. You'll automatically get more tired in the evening! (at least that worked for me) (on the days I didn't stay up despite being tired and played overwatch til 4AM)

I've fallen into this pattern lately of not watching KZbin videos all the way through. While they are videos that I usually enjoy like chatty vlogs and such, I suppose I've been wanting a video that really had an impact on me, but in a sort of casual way. If that makes sense. And before I knew it I got to the end of this video, having paid 100% attention to every word and every second. Even at the points of the video were it was just the top of Sammy's head or you staring out into the ocean...I guess I just really heard you in this one. And I related, and it makes me want to go on the same journey to slowly bettering my life and my habits. Thanks :)

The bit about feeling like going in the sea and just do it: Back in 2012 me and my boyfriend broke up after being together for almost six years and having a 4 year old daughter (no drama, just very different young inexperienced people who never was the right long term match). Anyway, becoming a mother had paused my own identity as a person, and I slowly tried to "find" myself again since 2010, by reconnecting with my younger sister and have fun and good conversations. One day we walked to the beach and I felt the fresh air made me want to go in to the sea. I took of my shoes, stepped in the water and felt like this was the beginning of the next part of my life. I felt filled with happiness and peace inside. Long ramble, but I completely understand how the sea can heal you. This song about the North Sea (which is called The Sea of the West in Denmark), gives me a similar feeling. The lyrics are danish, but the band, Nephew, mostly makes nonsens lyrics anyway, with some poetic flair. The song title means "defibrillator" or some sort of "making the heart start again" kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZ25Xqt9ibtkhpI

I am EXACTLY the same way when it comes to sleep, and going to uni (with a way more relaxed timetable) meant I had loads of time to sleep in, and I would just do all my assignments at night when I was most productive. I found this awesome app (I'm pretty sure it's called sleep cycle) that monitors your circadian rhythms and wakes you up when you're in stage 1 or 2 of your sleep schedule (light sleep) rather than stage 3 or 4 (y'know when you wake up feeling SO tired despite the fact you've slept for a good amount of time? Chances are your alarm broke you out of one of the deep stages of your cycle, which'll leave you feeling tired all day ) It works SUPER well for me :) Love this series, can't wait for more!

Changing sleeping habits is a challenge for me too! It helps to set an alarm on my phone to remind myself this is the time I should wind down and get ready for bed. Getting up early is much easier when you have had enough sleep:) A good bedtime routine helps as well (your mind will connect it to getting sleepy and relaxed), and putting your phone on airplane mode after bedtime, though that's easier said than done haha ;) Good luck! I love how you let go of everything in the sea, that sounds amazing :)

I really LOVE this concept of filming a bit every day. It would be long to address everything you said in this video but, I relate, I'm always waking up at 12:00 when I don't set an alarm, and when I do I literally have to force myself to get up and I'm just a zombie. Gotta work on that. (also Stephen King yaaas/Hey from one of your french followers, hope you enjoyed your stay even though you had to pay more to have euros :/ beautiful shots of the countryside ! Made me want to go to the beach and escape life for a bit/Tom is gold/Sammy is gold that Wii remix 😂) And yes, Jennifer Aniston IS underrated. alright have a great day/evening (everybody not just Dan you deserve it) 💛

The sleep thing is so relatable! I've always had a hard time getting to sleep and waking up. I used to have to be up and out of the house by 6:30 for work. I got into a pretty good nighttime routine, but now that I don't have to do that it's pretty much impossible to be asleep before 1 or awake before 9 or 10. I went to bed at 10 the other night because I was completely exhausted and still had a hard time getting up at my 8:45 alarm.

When I was at uni, I had to get up at 5am most days because of sports crap. Long story. Anywho, the only way I found myself being at all productive was through napping. Even if it was a just a half hour nap, or even if it was just a half hour in bed during the afternoon not quite asleep but chilling, that was how the mornings became manageable. I also naturally go to bed late, (and have something called chronic insomnia but again, long story), but honestly, short naps are the only way to survive mornings. If you promise yourself a nap in the afternoon after a morning of productivity, it’s much easier to get stuff done.

I’m also trying to be a morning person, every time I was off from school I’d make up at 11 or 12 but then two holidays ago I decided to set my alarm at about 8am and it actually worked for the first week, I then went back to school and then at the weekend I actually woke up decently early! Last holiday it didn’t work quite as well but I did get up early a few times in the 2 weeks. From then on I’ve been getting up early a few times at the weekends so it has worked vaguely but because I’ve been losing sleep from getting up at 6 am for school I usually use the weekend to catch up on my sleep. I think I’ve improved but I’ve definitely still got room for improvement!

If Jennifer Aniston is underrated, what about David Schwimmer??? I love his acting and cannot imagine anyone else playing Ross. Also... THEY WERE ON A BREAK!!

I used to live in Fuerteventura... nice enough for a week but horrible place to live. 60 hours a week for 5 euros an hour serving.. well, I'm sure you saw the variety of tourists you get there

I'm *exactly* the same with sleep. I've recently read 'Why We Sleep' by Matthew Walker - I found it fascinating, and somehow it didn't make me feel guilty about my night-owl-ish ways. I would highly recommend putting it on your TBR! X
