Judge Luttig was the first republican that said, "Donald trump and his allies and supporters are a clear and present danger to democracy." He said it at the Jan 6th hearings and I cried. He's a good man and a true American patriot. We need more like him.

I never had a chance to fully understand who Judge Luttig was until viewing this presentation. His humbleness, graciousness, goodness, generosity, integrity and valor was equally front and center with his highly respected knowledge and application of US law and US Constitution. Combine this even further with his ability to hold riveting attention in conveying the seriousness of our current times, with the Supreme Court, Donald Trump, the Republican Party and this current election, his contribution is monumental. I was totally captivated by Judge Luttig's delivery as i have with all his other interviews. He is such wise counsel. In this session Judge your forceful comments about the former president, the immunity ruling and the Supreme Court gripped me! I have so much respect for you, your teachings and 'voice'.! My parents and grandparents came to America in 1898. I am where I am and who I am because of what this beautiful country affored me. Thank you for your contributions in this struggle we are in!!!!!

I, as well, a registered Democrat and full-fledged liberal, greatly admire this learned man's integrity. Shortly after his appearance on the world stage (J6 hearings), when asked to opine on our Supreme Court's decisions, he was understandably reticent to do so, out of his respect for the court itself and the justices. I appreciated his respect for the institution; he wouldn't be casting aspersions on them (at least publicly). Fast-forward to today -- he's not holding back AT ALL. He's very clear about the unrecognizable Republican party and their standard-bearer. The gravity of the corruption of the Grand Old Party and willful destruction of our democracy is hardly noticed by millions of Americans, yet we can see it is breaking his heart. Yes, his life-long Republican heart. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Weston. (Also, kudos to Liz Cheney on her refusal to stay silent as well!)

Judge Luttig is a one of several heroes on January 6th. Praises for his wife Elizabeth for encouraging him to speak out. Another hero that I learned of here is Mike Pence's son. Lt. Michael J.Pence USMC who told his father VP Pence that he must preside over Congress on January 6th, 2021 to execute his duty to his Oath to Uphold the Constitution of the United States. My faith would be restored in our Supreme Court if Honorable J. Michael Luttig were seated. I have faith and he has proven he will support the Constitution with every fiber of his being. Democracy is in peril, struggling to defend itself in the new age of social networks. Hardcore Christian nationalism is surging worldwide. Nationalist parties that reject identity freedoms and cosmopolitan values have shifted from the fringes to the mainstream. Religious nationalism shapes obligations among people based on race, ethnicity, and religion, inevitably excluding those labeled as the “other.” Our democracy now stands at a critical juncture: the rule of civil law versus the dominance of hardcore religious beliefs. We are in a race-democracy versus totalitarianism. Donald Trump is merely a puppet in the hands of Project 2025 architects; as long as they continue to feed his manic ego, he remains fully maneuverable. The sooner democracy gets itself together and adapts to the new paradigm, the better.

But that's the problem, the US is held to such a high standard, that nobody believes it could fall like any other country. I love Judge Luttig. He is an American hero.⚖️🇺🇲🙏🏼 "Stand for something or fall for anything" ~Alexander Hamilton I read that once on a paperweight. Years later I became a nurse. I witnessed something and had to make a decision whether to turn to my supervisor or let it go. I thought it over and during 3 restless nights, that quote rung like a distant bell. My coworker lost his job. My supervisor was not happy with me. And the atmosphere around my other coworkers was so thick you could almost hear what they were thinking. But I know in my heart to this day I did the right thing. As a psychiatric nurse, I felt it wasn't only my obligation, it was my duty to protect those who are not able to protect themselves.
