The 8500 is a really good Machine and a good Roller operator is a very important job especially on steep grades and areas like small driveways with different angles. On production jobs like roadways minor imperfections in the edging are industry standard and are ameliorated by backfilling with base material , or native soil to eliminate drop off at the edge. Striping of the roadway helps by diverting attention away from edge imperfections. It does not pay to be anal retentive about such things on large production jobs . Over pavement of edges actually has a benefit because it allows for minor adjustment of striping. Definitely looks like spotty improper placement of tack oil, although that is not a big issue if asphalt is placed in thickness of 2 and 1/2 “ to 3” thickness over good solid well compacted base material or older asphalt that is only showing surface wear and oxidation. Too Much tack oil can be detrimental especially in hot climates . Too little under thin overlays can result in delaminating especially in climate’s where water penetrating the surface can freeze . Asphalt sheds water but is not water proof. Its permeability depends on its density and mix design.

It's so hard to get a straight and consistent edge/side. I'm surprised more paving outfits don't use a curber first before laying down the mat.

To me it looks like a contractor that doesn't take pride in their work (end product). Also, not enough Tack Coat. That'll be peeling up in no time.

I see quite a few things that are not right, first your tac what is up with that, it is not ment to be splashed on, just in spots, it has to be evenly spread over the entire surface that is getting paved to get good bonding. The Roller is not the most important machine, it is everything that works together that makes a good job like the screed men that keep a smooth drive and the paver operator that keeps the edge straight, and the luters when they lute remove segregation off the top very important because this washes out of the top in heavy rain with traffic traveling over it. Every man there is important, not just the roller, and they must know what their roll is. I did not see any of that here, Sorry!

lmao "your paver's on fire"....... that's the screed being heated up, I don't even do blacktop and I know that lol
@isakmattsson78412 ай бұрын
here in europe we use vögele machines and we dont need propane or fire to heat the screed. i think its electric or maybe it works like a webasto doesel heater
