Even in the London adaptation of the musical, from the recordings I’ve watched, L and Light’s voices always compliment each other perfectly. I think casting directors should treat L and Light for any media like they do a relationship. Mandatory chemistry tests to find two actors who can portray the characters and have chemistry.

The chuckle L gives on the word thought “who he thought was really me” is so much to me. That single bit proves Soechiro’s point. L doesn’t care about killing someone to get his way, he cares about outsmarting Kira. He laughs at Kira _thinking_ Lind Tailor was him, completely downplaying and ignoring that L got a man killed. It’s his apathy to a murder he caused and his humor in tricking Kira that highlights his priorities. L is not fit to be blindly looked at as a hero and upholder of justice.

I don't know if anyone already mentioned this but I really like how L and Light's part says "What's right and what is not" as implying there's no just a polarized version of right or wrong. For me it represents how for them there's only one way (theirs) to do things right and whatever other method is "not right" and for consequence, wrong.

You can hold true to you beliefs, but be willing to try to understand why other think differently. I have a very strong sense of right and wrong, and believe very deeply in my beliefs, but just because someone things or feel different, doesn't give me and excuse to disregard them. That will only ever breed arrogance and conflict.

There's a reddit thread where you can download the whole thing. I don't know about other streaming services, but if you have Apple Music and use a Mac to download the audio files, then it automatically opens them in the music app. After that all you have to do is put them into an album together, add artwork and possibly lyrics. That's what I did and the quality's great.

It seem like Socchiro condemns L even though L is percieved as a detecvite and thus on the "good side", like he sees through L and just plain out says he is evil(Like L and Light are very similar so that could be what sets Socchiro off, like he sees L does everything for really selfish reasons, not moraly right and breaks the law to get the end he wants)

bex clarke I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks that. They are all great and have their own style but it’s about the same thing every time and it doesn’t seem like it progresses. I think that if this ever goes on stage again, they should probably cut a couple of these songs. Maybe keep playing his game at least, because I think it best shows the L and Light rivalry.

I know it was three years ago, don't care "This is it" not really sure what song you are refering too, probably to "stalemate". There definitely about their rivarly, I mean, Light's and L's game is core of the Death Note, but there is a progress. This one is first of three, and it talks about haw they both will do anythink to defeat eachother, "I don't care who gets hurt now, as long as I get one more shot" sung by both in duet is really telling, with a Soichiro's claim that he can't accept L's methods or Kira's mission. Second, "Stalemate" is L getting to Light, he knows who Kira is but can't touch him, as Light can't kill L also, so they are at stalemate, dead end where noone can move forward into advantage. It is also telling how "stalemate", both the song and actual stalemate is broken by Misa appearence. She is L's chance to win, as much as Light's. Then we have "Playing his game" which is just before critical moves on both sides. They both have to reudjust to one another, both realise they cannot win without somethink proactive on their side, and to do smartest move they have to focus on their opponent. "Playing his game" is right before L arrests Misa and Light realises he can win using Rem's love. Songs themes progresses with a story, everyone states what point of their battle they found themselfs in relation to circumstances that are happening around. So no, I won't agree with you that there is no difference between them.

Okay. Whoa. I literally know next to nothing about Death Note, and only came here because of Light's actor... But I'm staying for the *music.* L and Soichiro (?)'s voices are incredible (as is Light's, of course, but that was the whole reason I came so I knew that already) and the harmonies are amazing. EDIT1: Of course. It's Frank Wildhorn. Well, that explains a lot. XD EDIT2: Okay, I haven't heard the whole album yet, but so far, I think this one and *The Way it Ends* are my two top favorites. EDIT3: Finished the album. They're my faves.

If you haven't seen the anime, I recommend you watch it! It's a fantastic anime with a whole of of mind games-the first arc with L and Light is honestly the best and I've watched those episodes a good chunk of times, but as a whole it's a good story with questions of morality and justice. Probably one of if not my favorite anime of all time.

OK, but L does care who gets hurt - if they're colleagues, anyway. (Criminals, sure, treat 'em like lab mice.) Lost a bit of nuance there, and audience engagement might suffer for it. Definitely does in the Japanese version, but happily the American one isn't THAT smotheringly nihilistic.

Calm Cloudless Sky the only person I could tell that he truly cared about was Watari. He considered Matsuda a pain(he saved him because he had to), Light to be his enemy(he was lying during the only friend scene). He never met Near officially, and Mellow only once. He seemed to show some sympathy for Sorichio, but sympathy doesn't mean you care about someone.
