There's no need to victim blame. Single parents have the right to a social life as well. Especially on one such a night. I'm sure her child was with a caregiver and well taken care of before the mother even left for the evening. So many negative assumptions thrown towards a victim of senseless violence. There's something to reflect on there, especially if you view her actions less moral than yours.

As a single father of a 10 year old, I've had to navigate this his whole life. Parents still have the right to a social life and no good honest parent would go out late unless their child was being watched over by a responsible caregiver that they trust. No doubt the Mother arranged for her son to be cared for while she was out for the night. It's not that strange. And searching for reasons to condemn a victim of senseless violence is not what we should be doing right now.
