Correction it comes with 2 sata cables not 4. Judging from the results from Hardware Unboxed's vrm test this board is similar in performance to the B450 Tomahawk. It does run slightly warmer, but you will be fine even with a 3950x on this board. 105C with an overclocked 3950x is a good result and still within safe limits. Thank you the kinds words! Their vrm video got released a few days ago. The board did okey, about on par with the B450 tomahawk, slightly warmer. In my experience most 3200mhz sticks works with ryzen at this point. I have some old 3200mhz CL16 dual rank samsung e die stick that are optimized for Intel z170 platforms. I have ran these sticks with all ryzen generations and enabling xmp worked on all but the first generation. I had to go down to 2933mhz to get it to work on that chip. I live in Norway so prices may be different from what you can get, but in general micron crucial ballistix dimms are micron e die and good overclcokers, they are not the cheapest here though. If you're just looking to run xmp, a cheap 3600mhz kit will give you slightly more performance in single threaded games, because of the faster If speed. G. Skill has some decently prized 3600 sticks. Edit, sorry forgot you asked about 2x16gb. A cheap 3200mhz kit will be fine and most kits should work with ryzen 3rd gen.

So the 3200mhz CL16 kits are usually the "worst" overclockers because it's a pretty loose bin. This gskill kit should be B die and is therefore a good overclocker pcpartpicker.com/product/jpH48d/gskill-memory-f43200c14d16gvk If you want rgb these are 3600 c18, and will basically have the same latency as a 3200 CL16 kit. It will give you slightly better performance because it will allow the IF on the ryzen 3600 to run at 1800mhz. pcpartpicker.com/product/4WtKHx/gskill-trident-z-rgb-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c18d-16gtzr The upside of getting a 3600mhz kit is the IF speed, and you can be sure that the sticks can do 3600mhz, which not all 3200mhz CL16 kit can. I did a video a while back on the best value ram for ryzen 3000, where I tested my memory at different speeds/latencies to see the difference in performance.

@DontCallTechSupport3 жыл бұрын
Well, it should work fine, you'll have to buy a separate m. 2 wifi card though. And you'll need bios verison 1.10 to be able to boot with a 5000 series cpu. My board came with 1.00, there is a sticker on the bios chip with the version number. They could be shipping with a later bios now. Other alternatives are Asus TUF b550m plus wifi, this board comes with wifi and has a better vrm. Although both should handle a oced 5900x just fine. The Asus board also has bios flashback, which this doesn't. Msi also has some alternatives, but the problem with them for me is too few usb ports on the rear panel. If that doesn't bother you the gaming edge or mortar if you want matx comes with wifi. Of course none of these are a cheap as the pro4, which apparently was on sale for 90 USD. I believe a T-topology board is recommended when overclocking 4 dimms, unfortunately I do not know what topology this board uses.

I'm thinking getting this board because it allows me to just use RTX 30 series in the future. Right?
@DontCallTechSupport4 жыл бұрын
Well you can use an RTX 30 series on any board with a pcie x16 slot. This board along with a 3rd or 4th Gen ryzen cpu will give you pcie4.0. Wheter that matters for the RTX 30 series I do it know. But you can use an RTX 30 series with pcie 3.0 aswell.

So I had a deal where basically the non-mATX version was cheaper than the mATX one, and took it. I've seen a few reviews saying that its a worse card, but from what I see it's pretty much the same besides a few ports missing (odd enough I agree, but I have no use for them so). In a same pricerange, would you say they go hand in hand or would you have still taken the mATX?
@DontCallTechSupport4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's basically the same, but for some reason ASRock decided to remove one of the internal USB 3.2 gen 1 header, but looks like the soldering pads are there. And they remove some USB ports on the rear along with the displayport. If I was building in an ATX case, I would be tempeted to go for the ATX version, but in my opinion the matx version is better value due to the features. But if you don't need them, I wouldn't worry about it.

In my opinion, this. This board supports Zen 2 (3000 series) cpus and with a potential bios update Zen 3 (5000 series) cpus. The B450 however will support all ryzen cpus with bios updates. The downside is less USB ports, one less m.2 and no pcie4.0

Hi. Could you please confirm to me if this motherboard, with the latest BIOS version, supports enabling and using the XMP profile?
