After watching this video, I was preparing to find an old cpu to update my B550M Pro4 that was in transit and when it showed up, it already had been updated to P3.20 bios. Dropped in my 5 5600 and everything worked. Guess I was lucky. This video helped me know what to look for. Thank you.

Thanks for the informative video... I have just had a PC built with exactly the same motherboard and the 5700x3d (first PC) .... At sea just now (work) and won't be home till next week and was doing some research on this.. It will be a case of installing the GPU (supplied separately in case of damage during shipping) and following your instructions... Thanks for giving me ease of mind...

G'day Kath & Mike, Had to give you a 👍 for the great camera work & 14:05 forgetting the GPU🤦‍♂😂 Really nice BIOS Update Instrucional video with great pre Flash advice, while most new motherbords do have a BIOS FB Button so many older Motherbords don't making this is a big help for younger people building their first PC from used parts or people who may be getting into older used PC parts as a hobby. I got a "New" motherboard & CPU yesterday, a Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC + 4770K to go with my Gigabyte SOC GPU Collection. For $155AUD (£80) quite a good deal as regular Z87 Motherboards go for $100AUD (£52) & 4770K $80-$100AUD (£42) & importing one from Asia the cheapest is about $140AUD (£72) just for the Z87X-OC.

The thermal paste is just to lower the thermal resistance between the CPU case and the heat-sink It doesn't matter one bit how you apply it the the thermal resistance between the two points is still very low even without it I prefer a small painters brush for application .

i just do what i think is best for temps and it not getting stuck like glue, you do it however you like. As you said it doesn't effect temps much if at all

@@mikesunboxing What I am saying from a engineering standpoint with or without thermal grease doesn't make much of difference, the heat from the semiconductor die just migrates u,p into the heat sink or water block. The thermal resistance between the two metal junction is so small So you have heat transfer t from the semiconductor die inside the CPU into the heat sink into ambient temperature inside the computer case So you say the heat -sink temp is 20 C about ambient and the fan just pushes the increase out If the computer was in a air conditioned room then the rise about ambient temp would be much smaller Put the same computer outside in August when it's hot and that heat sink is going to work harder to get the temperatures lower to get the heat away from the CPU die The thermal paste is just there to get the heat away faster by reducing the metal to metal contact

Im used to asus tuf motherboards bios update. The bios file can be accessed directly on the pc ssd/harddrive. I just ordered the b550m Pro 4 and im quite anxious about this type of update via the USB 😂 hopefully I will be successful. Will also be slapping a 5700x3d on it 😊 hopefully the Bios is already updated from factory to atleast 5600, my current cpu , tho my sister has my older r5 3600 but one less thing to do if the 5600 works right away 😅

yeah it you can't validate the motherboard bios revision before buying i would set the MSI B550 gaming plus instead

I bought this board, I installed my ryzen 5 5500 and it didn't turn on, I thought it could be the bios but then I installed a ryzen 5 3600 and it didn't turn on either, only the RGB light, the processor fan doesn't move either, what could be the problem?

hard to tell, you have no diagnostic leds, so i would get a bios beep speaker and listen for error codes

I have been trying to flash my bios on my b550 pro 4 and when I get to instant flash part it says “no image file detected” my usb drive is Fat32 and I have the correct update. My cpu is 5600x and my bios version atm is 1.00 HELP ME PLEASE 😭

@SBastianM beta these days just means it hasn’t had full compatibility testing with the bulk of hardware on the QVL lists. Or has been released as an emergency fix for the numerous vulnerabilities that have been found recently
