Used this Mobo for the 10 machines in the render farm! One of the very few B550's with a 4 slot pcie slot spacing which was needed for a 4090 and a 10gbe network card. Quite like the Bios interface too! This board is old but gold! Nice one mike!

B550 am4 motherboards are very solid hardware and still very useful. Had a gigabyte and never had a problem. Very nice ASRock option. Thank you for the video! All PC matters are in this channel. ❤

Reasonable motherboard, like the option to add wifi card without cluttering the pcie lanes. Did that with Asus B450 Gaming you reviewed a while back. Afraid not having bios flash back and weaker vrms would be a pass for me. Thanks for reviewing Mike and Kath 🐈👍

i think i over egged the VRM situation, they are weak compared with modern AM5 and high end AM4 but this is similar to the B450 tomahawk which was one of the best AM4 boards so it is more about context

I have and LOVE this motherboard. It's feature rich and has a crazy intuitive bios. Its a killer buy to get at £60!

I have just upgraded to a B450 M Steel Legend, but this looks like a nice board to have. So far I am happy with AsRock and AMD, so always interesting to know what other options there might be, although further changes would be a Disaster situation for me.

IDK if they still do, but AMD used to send a bios update kit to you if you needed a CPU to update your bios.

I've made the order for this board but now after reading some of the comments I'm afraid the VRM are bad. I intend to use Ryzen 7 5700x . I hope the lifespan of the board doesn't deteriorate.

just don't use a high end multi core cpu for long renders and you wil be fine

Hi Mike i watched this and bios flashing guide. I was quite tempted to buy this as an upgrade to asrock b450m steel legend. But seeing as it has 5700x3d and not 5600 maybe look at something else as it is a gaming pc. I think you mentioned vrm being a bit weaker. Be interested how well it works with 5700x3d. Hopefully be last upgrade to b550...

5700x3d will be fine on this, and the 5800x but the 12 and 16 core parts i would be looking maybe at other possible options like the msi b550 gaming plus or edge wifi

Motherboards is one of those components i refuse to buy used. with alie condition is a gamble, these boards are likely not treated too well , stacked onto a pile. People tend to forget theres hundreds of miles of tracers running through a motherboard, we went from a pc the size of a classroom to current size because of the amount of tracers we've managed to squeeze in a board the size of a piece of paper. even minor damage can lead to a whole bunch of headscratching issues, it's really not worth it.

it has a warranty with it? i don't see the problem, i have bought and sold many used motherboards and the failure rate has been almost zero

@@mikesunboxing Yeah maybe, Just my opinion. I believe people are under the false assumption that a board either works or doesn't . Personally have seen cases of used boards, where putting your pc in sleep mode would completely wreck the OS, or windows just refusing to update with a very vague error code. When i see those "bargain hunt" videos by techyes, i can't unsee the image of all these bare boards being stockpiled in china, theres so many tracers running under a board, protected by just a thin layer of paint. I also have had several instances where i bought a used GPU and there was visible scratches / damage on the pcb. Only GPUs with a backcover, with the warranty screw in place. People simply dont treat their stuff well. Would never risk it on a component with so many vital components exposed.

@@mikesunboxing asus rog strix b550e gaming got it on Ebay for 75 dollars and it's still going strong today and like a fool, I switched to a rog strix b650e when I didn't have to yet. Am4 is still very good today.

@@mikesunboxing Asus ROG strix b550-f gaming.. that board is going strong still to this day. I got it for 75 dollars on eBay a while back, it was new but didn't come with anything, it was the motherboard only what a good motherboard.
