It is actually what I was looking for as very few reviewers go into the technical aspects such as the vrm, capacitor composition etc. This is very important information for overclocking enthusiasts or for those that want to squeeze a little more performance out of a budget build. I've been doing teardown like these for over a decade, but almost always written. Now I'm going hard on video as that's the new medium people seem to want to engage with. We have plans, more interesting stuff to come than a teardown and analysis :).

13:21 If those leds are too bright (and they always are) with power off dot them with a sharpie marker and let it dry. It will dim them by more than half and doesn't hurt anything.

I have had the M.2 thing explained to me differently. I was told that you don't lose the 16x slot unless you use both the top two M.2 slots.

Manual says that "If M2_2 is occupied, PCIE1 will downgrade to x8 mode" It does not say that M2_1 (the gen4 one on top) will cause the PCIE1 to downgrade. So I believe you can run 4 Gen4 m.2s without downgrading the PCIE1 slot.

What is your honest opinion on that board compared to msi, asrock, gigabyte ? Do you recommend it ? I want to buy this board for my i7 13700k and undervolt.

This board unnecessary for your cpu, you can get a B chipset or or z690. Z790 is ideal for the i9.

don't use the top 2 M.2 slots or it will run your graphics card slot to run at X8 instead of X16.

How do we check gpu speed? Unfortunately i put one nvme ssd on right side top slot. Not sure whether my gpu now in 8x or 16x mode..

Careful doing BIOS upgrade, there's no flashback feature. Corrupted = diy fix with BIOS flash tool or RMA.

What's different from switches to redrivers?

Switches change the direction of the signal, but redrivers reinforce signal integrity over a longer distance. Here they do both, but only in one direction. In the past, we have them switch in either direction, and them added redrivers. Here, it's a different solution.

I was set on getting the asus rog strix b760-A for my build, but only now did I realize that b-series motherboards don't support overclocking. I have been watching video after video on what parts are good for the money, what parts are compatible with others, benchmarks, build guides, everything. Just not one that said I needed a z-series for a 13700K, lol. To be fair, this will be my first build, so I'm bound to not know things and make mistakes. Atleast with this motherboard I'll actually save a little money, and it still matches the white theme. I have a white lian li 216, AERO 4070 Ti, white PSU and cables, white g.skill memory, and now a white 'camo' motherboard. Now I just need a more budget friendly white AIO, the liquid freezer II only comes in black. Deepcool LS/LT720 seems like a good option for now.

I have i7 13700k with Asus b760 a d4 it’s working fine you don’t a z series motherboard to compatible with i7 you only need enough vrms to tame 13700k and ocing overrated you don’t get performance gain on that just power consumption.

Don't over overclock if you want your build to last longer, if you don't know what you're doing you can get less performance. I would only overclock if I have a water cooling system and know the precise measurements in the bios. Bad idea for your first build.

ASRock doesn't fail more or less than other boards. My much cheaper Phantom Gaming 4 Z590M is still working fine after over two years constant usage.

Is there a way to tell, from the hardware, if a board will be suseptable to coil whine? Why are the Z790 Gigabyte boards having coil whine issues?

Well, the cheaper the capacitors the likelier is coil whine. But it can happen with every board and PSU and graphics card. Hard to predict.

The MSI z790 Edge Wifi has a PCI 5.0 NVME slot with heat sink on both sides, top and bottom.. so significantly better than this thing. ($250 on sale.. mine was $325 on sale, worth the $75 price difference...) Unfortunately on my new motherboard, it still doesn't cool the bottom of the other 3 NVME slots. When your paying this much.. sounds like you'd have to pay alot more for the EATX premium boards for better cooling on VRMs/NVME..
