For budget stuff that isn't junk Rep Fitness is probably the best option for racks and benches. The Rogue Boneyard is a great place to look for bars and collars. But be quick as they sell out really fast. Titian iron plates and decent and not super expensive. Skip kettlebells and dumbbells as they are luxuries not essentials. For what spend on that expensive air bike you could get a full set of sand bags and farmers handles and get some functional cardio. If you absolutely need a cardio machine buy it used since there are mountains or used bikes and treadmills out there.

Would be cool to see this with more of a themed garage gym like a boxing gym or an MMA gym or a jujitsu gym. That’s really the direction my gym is going kind of a calisthenics/boxing gym. I wanna see something like your best rock climbing/mobility work garage gym.

I have a Rep PR-1100 and it’s a great value. The main reason I went with it is it fits in my space with relatively low ceilings. I’d love to upgrade when a higher ceilings allow it, but it really will last you a lifetime. Well worth the little extra it costs over the super budget racks.

Awesome video for sure. One thing I’d personally change for someone just starting a gym would be the bike. It’s just too easy to get other forms of cardio for cheap/free and that $600 could go a long ways towards other areas of the gym.

I just found your channel and started watching, the 1st video I saw was Coop valuing power racks and he had the XLT as the best value. Then I just kept watching. Ended up seeing around 20 videos at one sitting. I immediately subscribed and am still watching. The barbell drop in the driveway and the dumbbell drop off the building are 2 of my favorites. Great Channel, Coop

Please review York Barbell’s racks and benches from their FTS and/or STS lines. And also their barbells and plates. I live near their warehouse and built a great home gym on a budget with their products. (FTS squat stand, full set of bumper plates, hybrid bar, FTS adjustable bench, oly loadable DBs, 35 and 50 KBs and more). I would love to see how you rate their products against other budget products. I personally love them. Also, please review bodylastic bands. I think those should have been included in your previous video comparing the bands. And for something very different… please compare yoga mats from different brands. Thanks and keep up the incredible work!!!

I have the CAP power cage, 2x2 post, 1in holes. Safety bars and J-hooks included. I bought it on Amazon for 350CND, so around 250USD, free shipping. The J-Hook are metal only so I glued carpet pieces on them to avoid scratching my bar. I added a land mine (I had to drill some holes on the bottom post) and a dip attachment. I've been using it for the last 3 years, it's still very solid, no loose bolts!

Would love you guys to test squat wedges, specifically comparing all the angles they come in and how they feel to use. The new Rogue squat wedges, while not a budget pick, range from 5 to 30 degrees. I imagine that either the 15 or 20 degree ones would be the best to go for but I can't compare....

At the price rogue charges, why not try a pair of weightlifting shoes? You can get a pair of Adidas ones for around 100-125
@GavinBrown
@GavinBrown Жыл бұрын
@@josephbloxham3992 Completely agree. Worth comparing them too to discuss pros and cons. I imagine shoes are best as are much easier to use and can be used anywhere, but wedges are best if you need a larger angle. (just not too large... which is what I would like to find out)
@mrdisco8616
@mrdisco8616 Жыл бұрын
@gavin brown problem for this one is there is no best, it will vary depending on how you want to tweak the movement and what that person’s squat is like right now. I can tell you you’re right though and the middle angles (10,15,20) are more useful more often.
@GavinBrown
@GavinBrown Жыл бұрын
@@mrdisco8616 Cheers. Yes, agreed. Was just speaking generally i.e. if you just need a bit of extra ankle dorsiflexion to aid your squat, then squat shoes are def worth considering. If you have other exercise goals, or an injury like myself, then the larger squat wedge angles come into play. Cheers for angle advice. Would be nice to try them in person before buying...
@mrdisco8616
@mrdisco8616 Жыл бұрын
@@GavinBrown i have some amazon rubber ones that create 3 angles because they separate in two and stack. That may be good to investigate although once you know the angle you want like I do a fixed wedge feels a little bit better. I end up using 15 degrees for myself and my goals but I still want to the 10 and 20 to achieve different effects or for clients.

I started my home gym with the same CAP half rack, a cheap barbell that came with a set of cast iron weights set and a cheap adjustable bench from dick’s (fitness gear) and lastly a set of powerblock classic 50. All those served me well for about 10 years, granted I wasn’t lifting real heavy stuff when I was starting. I started upgrading last year, first my rack to a titan T3 with a lat pull down attachment, my bench to a rep fitness AB3100 bench, a couple of rogue bars and some specialty bars from titan. I agree with Coop when he says buy once, cry once but at the same time I don’t really need the overbuilt stuff rogue offers since I don’t think I’m gonna need those kind of specs. I like these videos that shows options for all kinds of budgets.

Great video 👍 Here is a video idea for budget equipment: I'm looking at adding a budget lat pulldown machine to my home gym. I know Coop reviewed the plate loaded Titan Fitness lat pulldown, but I'd love reviews on two others I found on Amazon. The XMark lat pulldown looks like it is heavier duty than the titan fitness for about the same price, and the GDLF lat pulldown looks like it might get the job done for about half the price, but it's package weight is the lowest of them all. A lat pulldown roundup would be awesome.

I don't know what the disconnect between the general population and the channel is, but when we talk about a bugdet cardio machine, it means $90 stationary bike on Amazon, not a $600 air bike. You mentioned here, and have had them for a while, but Tru Grit CONSTANTLY has $1/lb hex dumbbells, $1/lb Rubber Bumper plates and on holidays many benches on half off that are then in same category as Amazon benches but MUCH better quality. Also, Fitness Reality as a Amazon brand has been SOLID (I own the 810XLT Squat rack and 2000XL adjustable bench and like them a lot for the price paid and quality). As a college student I would change out some things for a real budget gym. I would probably get cheap squat stands ($65 rated for 550lbs so spend more if you're stronger), a rogue boneyard bar ($200) or if you wanted to make it even cheaper use a 8ft 2in steel pipe with some clamps for a cheap axle bar, used iron plates or the cheapest new iron plates (I've seen as low as $1/lbs used so if you search $400 for 400lbs), a used or the cheapest bench I can find ($30), for DBs I would just make them out of 2in steel pipes and other things from home depot ($20), and for everything else I just wouldn't buy cause you don't need it. This comes out to $715 with 445lbs of weight in total with the weight being the most expensive thing. And then if you're worried about the floor you can make your own platform for about $125 if you buy a 4'x8' 3/4" osb plywood sheet (~$25) and then 2 4'x6' 3/4" horse stall mats (~$100). Or you could even make giant bumpers by bolting 5lbs plates onto some old tires which could be free if you have the tools. You can make things pretty cheap and very useable if you try. I got lucky to get my dad's old weight set but I'm still doing things like making my own dip belt for $20 (which actually turned out better than any dip belt I've used), making my own bumpers, and making my own platform.

Finally a break from luxury home gym reviews. I built out my entire basement home gym for $1,600 (so far :D ). All are shipped costs + tax listed below Everything was purchased between June 2022 and last week, so some of them were discounted and not available right now. 1 Olympic Barbell - Sporzan $80.00 - Amazon (hasn't deformed yet with max of 365 loaded on it for deadlifts) 2 Squat Rack - Canpa adjustable rack - $120.00 Amazon 3 AMGYM Weights - bumper plates 160 lb set - $338.00 Amazon 4 Safety Clips $9.00 Amazon 5 Adjustable Bench - LINODI $102.00 Amazon 6 Pull-up Bar $25.00 Estimated - Lowes - DIY with 4' metal pipe 7 Tape - for pull-up bar $11.00 (pipe is a bit slippery and leaves leaves some residue otherwise). 8 Dip Belt $26.00 RIMsport - Amazon 9 Everyday Essentials Bumper Plates $147.00 2 45 lb plates - Amazon 10 Change Plates $47.00 -2x10, 2x5, 2x2.5 bought used from FB marketplace 11 Rug Pad $86.00 - Cut up to make drop pads. 12 Black Duct Tape - to make drop pads $22.00 13 Cap 45 lb plates (2) - $105.00 Amazon 14 Short Resistance Bands $14.00 Fit Simplify - Amazon 15 Pull-up Assistance Bands $37.00 Hapbear set of 5 - Amazon 16 CAP Adjustable Dumbbells 2x 52.5 lb set (includes 2 17" handles) - $141.00 Amazon 17 CAP Adjustable Dumbbells - 60 lb set (includes 2 14" handles) - $91.00 Amazon 18 Bench Press Safty Spotters- $20.00 DIY w/plywood & 2x4s - Estimated - Lowes 19 Rubber Flooring - Rubber surface $134.00 (would recommend horse stall mats but sold out in my area at the time) 20 Lifting Platform $35.00 Estimated - Lowes (2 sheets of 15/32 osb) 21 Olympic Rings - Myprotein $15.00 Estimated - price includes reduced shipping cost for protien powder order due to hitting spending threshold Total Costs $1,605.00 My biggest limitation is lack of spotter arms for heavy back squatting, but I prefer the front squat anyway. The drop pads + lifting platform help me bail a front squat without making a shit ton of noise.

Can you guys review the Ethos equipment from Dick's Sporting Goods?

I love my Ethos 1.0 power rack. It was $699 when I got it but is now $799. I ordered a fitness gear 300lb bar/weight set for $240 with it - order online for instore pickup saved 10% so the whole setup was $913 after tax. After getting set up i liked it so much I added the Ethos dip horns and landmine($140 combined). That Ethos rack was a bargain, it came with monkey pull-up bat, fat pull-up bar, spotter arms, pins and J hooks. Its a shame GGR hasn't done a review on it.
